What is stratlan event like compared to an i-series event?

Now ive been to an I-series event, but iam thinking of attending a stratlan event next year, i was hoping some of the people who attend stratlan alot could give me views on what it is like down there. Thanks

If an I-series is a lan convention then a Stratlan is an lan party.

Everyone pretty much knows everyone else, there's more non gaming than at an i-series, it's pretty informal by all comparrisons.

It's a lot more social.

More booze.

And generally someone will drink too much blue filth and vomit in their sleep.

slan its all about the social aspect ... meeting up with people drinking, playing games is not a high priority :P usually most gaming occurs when theres a huge server set up which everyone plays .. Q3, UT, CSS etc etc lots of oldie games too :D

Slan is what you make of it. If you want to sit and play games then you’ll find several servers running with 3-4 people playing 24/7. Peak times for gaming are during afternoon/evening, the later it gets the more and more people enter the bar and it turns into a party.

If you're under 18 you might be too immature to really participate in the lan. Although many lans are suitable for under 18s, i'd suggest that Slan perhaps is the only one that isnt so much so.

I believe there was going to be an age restriction put on Slans but i don't know if it ever happened.

We know who is new at an event and make a point of getting you involved and finding out what games you play. Make sure you introduce yourself to the people sat next/near to you and you'll be fine.

On a serious note, if you try looking here http://www.multiplay.co.uk/StratLANXmasParty2007/ you should be able to get a pretty good idea of the LAN and venue. YOu can click on all of the pictures. Otherwise have you tried doing a site search for StratLAN photos or SLAN photos. Either of those provides threads where you should be able to find linked photos of past events and the venue.
