Hey all,

I need recommendations for alternative ISP's to Zen, as I have now hit a hard bandwidth cap twice in one month, both during online activities which has caused me no end of rage.

So please, nominate your recommended soft-cap/no-cap ISP's now ... I don't live in a massively serviced LLU area, so its going to be mostly BT-backended solutions, but I just cannot be doing with an ISP that cuts all inet access on hitting a cap.

Stay with Zen.

Yes their bandwidth may seem expensive, but no ISP has low or soft caps. Nothing is free. Zen are honest by telling you your monthly limits in the first place. Any ISP that doesn't claims unlimited usage*, the * being subject to fair use policy. You simply get threatening letters about how you disrupt other people locally.

You will never find an ISP as good as Zen in terms of service quality, support, and free block of 8 IP's (very few do this, you're lucky to get 1 static IP for free).

I'm on Zen 8000 Pro. With 4 of us using the Internet (me mostly) we have only ever hit the 50 GB limit once.

Any of the entanet resellers. Bandwidth limits are clearly defined, but off peak is at least 300gb. Exceeding the limit bumps you up the the next package up, but they do actually have the capacity to deliver a good solid speed almost all the time.

Here (http://www.adsl24.co.uk)
Or Here (http://www.ukfsn.org)
...to name but a couple.

Also remember Multiplay DSL (http://www.multiplaydsl.co.uk) doesn't charge you or cut you off if you exceed the cap - but you are throttled back to 256k. :)

I feel compelled to recommend www.aquiss.net now they have a refer a friend scheme :) (mention my nick at signup).

Good and speedy customer service.
No throttling should you go over your allowance (you get charged though).
Nice range of packages.
1 static IP

Though they aren't the cheapest, you definitely get what you pay for.
Both Zenith and I recommend them highly.

For a quick look, the package I have is 45GB (peak time 8am-8pm) and 300gb (offpeak 8pm-8am and all day weekend) for 32.99, that the business package so includes the increased upload speed as well.
If you want a bit more peak time allowance, you can double it for 7 quid a month.

You can check out the forum if you like http://members.aquiss.net/forums/index.php though you won't obviously get all the forums.
