What a relief, UT3 is actually good!
Okay, it still suffers from huge yet hard-to-see models like 2k but they've worked a lot on the gameplay and it feels much tighter and more responsive and although not quite on the ut99 level it's getting back there.
The weapons are more powerful than 2k too, no more hammering away at somebody for five minutes before they die - a couple of seconds with the new minigun and they're toast; ace! Respawning is quicker too and both these work to bring the pace of the game back up to ut99 levels.
As a demo it's great. Sure there are problems - I understand the server setup needs some more work for example, but as a work in progress I'm very pleased.

The Dark Walker is INSANELY overpowered. It's sluggish to aim, but if you even graze a person, they're a goner.
I also found it easier to do shock combos and the blast radius seems to do more damage than previous games.
Surprisingly the rocket launcher seems underpowered to me compared to UT99, Quake etc.

I personally feel theyve got it right this time around, although I don't understand why they have put a darkwalker in A DM map for...wtf is that all about?

seems a bit too easy to get headshots with the sniper rifle at the moment, only played 3 games (against AI) and havn't gotten in the deathwalker or whatever it is called yet, I unbound my use key by accident. :p
but so far, the game is good, will have a lan game later today and see how it goes, or wait for steve to turn up and hack us some instagib :P

anyone want to help with this? what do i change consolekey to so that i can type an @ symbol properly, and the key beside the 1 key uses the console

having trouble entering your email? just use the alt number combo if thats all you want to do, worked for me.

the actual game is solid, the general UI i don't like. it's just lots of little things that i hope are eliminated by a minimalist ui mod. things like the main menu appears to be rendering a level in the background, asks you to confirm launching a server/sp game, no advanced options outside of the .ini files, menus flip around when moving between levels, basic menus in game and you have to go to the advanced options to get everything . in general it's just things that get between you and the thing you want to do in the menus quickly.

Lack of instagib in the demo is crap :( and I agree the UI stinks of console. The movement feels a lot better than 2k* and more like 99 though, which is awesome.
Really need someone to hax us some insta :D
