We have a lot of people playing ETQW on MPUK DSL and have had no other reports. I'm not sure what you mean by active number of connections?

according to devs

sorry i didnt explain myself.
i meant when i login on ETQW i send an auth to the servers for my game account. the connection gets lost, i repeat and it gets lost again and ive created a series up incompleted auth requests. if these are limited by the isp as they are spurious and unresolved connections they may get bounced.
apparently tiscali arent routing ETQW correctly which made me wonder if it was an isp issue

Do you need to open a port on a router maybe?
Just a thought.

ok it goes like this
router ports open for the required ports
firewall configured.
etqw works fine all day sunday.
i try it one morning this week, its ok upto 12:00. after that time all i get is connection lost and unable to connect to update server. I tried all afternoon and no luck so i give up and play a different game.
I try it this morning and it connects fine.
no changes made to router or firewall.
so if my theory is going to prove correct it will fail again midday.
I suspect that its either a server auth problem or that somewhere in the connection to the server the ETQW data isnt getting processed properly. By that i mean that its shaped or given lower priority hence it timing out.
i dont think its MPUK as i understand that ETQW is not on the list that identifies it as "undesirable software"? kinda like a torrent app. but when my client is continuiosly sending auth requests to the server and not getting anything back i suppose it could be interpretted as behaving like a torrent application and its spurious by nature.
what worries me is that this problem is a known problem on the ET:QW technical forums and seems to be hitting a lot of people on different ISP's with no similar reason.
the tech answer is to disable your router firewall / os firewall any spyware detection tools and virus scanners.
ive even done a packet capture for when it works and doesnt to compare whats going on and i can clearly see when the server fails to ack my auth requests...
Im not prepared to accept this as it doesnt say that im required to do this on the game box, if it did i wouldnt have bought the game. ironically this problem didnt occur with the beta version.
shame really as its a really good game.
