Which means I may not really be able to drive down to StratLan by myself, I am wondering if anyone might be able to help me out, I am just off J25 on the M1 if anyone goes near there id be happy to help out with petrol money etc.

Wow, quite impressive, my first thought was temperature, but there appears to be a radial pattern emanating from the lower central chip just near the wiper hardpoint - so my thoughts are with blunt trauma like a gunshot/pickaxe hit - the shattering is very significant and uniform indicating a high amount of kinetic energy... but you'd expect there to be some kind of depression/malformation of the body work around the impact site?

No idea it looks like someone was trying to remove it from the edges as theres loads of glass missing there wheras everywhere else its pretty much all there, no idea what they were hoping to achieve though, not as if there is anything particuarly of value in there (and if you were after that wouldn't you just break the damn thing?)

Rammy, out of interest, what camera do you have?

Its a pretty old one, don't use it much so no real reason to get shiner ones, it's a Fujifilm "FinePix A204"

My old car was broken in to (before I got it).

They went at the back window with a crowbar, presumably with a view of taking the glass out to get in quietly, as opposed to smashing it to bits. I The places where the glass is missing I would presume they were trying to do the same.

Inform the police and go go insurance claim.

Some sellotape and newspaper will fix that right up.

Correct! You passed the test :p

FYI the date on your camera is off. The EXIF info of the jpeg says it was taken in feb 2004. Might want to sort that out for insurance claim purposes etc

Insurance? They can usually come out same/next day and replace it might cost you £25-£50 in excess though.

Providsing of course you have it for the sake of £2 or £3 a year its usually worth it

Most screen repairs are free with full comp and can be done pretty quick as it doesn't take them long to order them in if they don't already have em.. just call up AutoGlass ;) If there is no damage to the car bodywork etc itself would probably be a faster option than waiting for insurance company to try and sort things out.

Plenty of helpful advice on the window, but nobody has offered him a lift.

Clearly you've passed on your car gremlins to me - my engine management light has just turned on.

Too late to cancel now though, exhaust gas composition be damned!

Oh hush you, I had to hire a car on Monday because I didn't trust the green dart to make it to Basingstoke in one piece..

But I'll be at SLAN in it, complete with angry swarm of bumblebee sound effects (something's got a hole in it)

That is true however I have a feeling that not even Autoglass will be able to Resin Inject that back to a state where it will be legal and qualify for a free repair :) they will just replace it but they will charge him his excess ( both claims on my car are for smashed glass ) my insurance puts me straigh though to Autoglass when I call them so yes going direct to them is possible ( I did the second time )

I was just making a sweping generalisation here that on a J reg car he may not have Fully Comp insurance so unless hes paid the extra £7.50 or whateever it is a year hes boned :(
