Hello, I've been playing in the servers for a little over a month now. Really like alot and went to website to download map pack. So here's my problem, twice now i've downloaded the map pack (.rar) file and opened with Winace. Now when I open the rar file and go into the maps there is only 1 map (2bases). It's saying that 2bases is a 1.4Gb file. For some reason it's not separating the file into the smaller files etc. I don't know what the problem is but I've tried downloading with AOL, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox and all are giving me the same problem. If anyone has an idea of what's going on some help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be a compatibility issue with Winace. I stopped using it and swapped to Winrar years ago. I've just opened it fine again with Winrar.
You might want to try "IZArch (http://www.izarc.org/download.html)". It supports 7-ZIP, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, B64, BH, BIN, BZ2, BZA, C2D, CAB, CDI, CPIO, DEB, ENC, GCA, GZ, GZA, HA, IMG, ISO, JAR, LHA, LIB, LZH, MDF, MBF, MIM, NRG, PAK, PDI, PK3, RAR, RPM, TAR, TAZ, TBZ, TGZ, TZ, UUE, WAR, XXE, YZ1, Z, ZIP, and ZOO archives. Oh, and it's free.

ok i went iand tried the program. still no. it seems to be saying its either a bad block or some kid of (rar) error. i have ruled out any of the programs themself. i believe the problems lie within my cpu. because all of the programs can open all other zip, rar, etc etc files i have. so something has to be wonko with computer. mind you, this is my mothers computer because she has excellent bandwith, mine not so good. but the first 2 times i tried to download the map pack with AOL browser it screwed up and i think i tried like 5 more times. AOL only would download partial file. like 500Mb then read it was complete. Mozilla Firefox worked great. but back to problem now, i re-downloaded today and once again only map was 2bases and it was 1.4Gb. i think this is some error on her computer and not in the archiving programs. i think i might have on 1 of the downloads hit "save target as" or something like that. something that i should not have. Probably with AOL or IE. but i did a search and found no files with the mpuk..... (the name of the rar)so i didn't think there was any weird files messing it up. But yeah d/l worked fine with Firefox but still says only 1 file. when i open rar. im also saving directly to desktop. if that matters. so at this point i have no idea what it could be.

Well, I'm getting problems opening the updated player model pack with winrar. Much like the map pack formerly mentioned it opens up but it can only extract a few things before it says that the rest cannot be extracted due to some error. I've already downloaded it a few times and I still get the same problem.

I'll try & get an alt. mirror up for the files (not hosted on here), and as a zip archive?
I've downloaded the player models (map pack still downloading)
Extracting player/bananaboy_blue/bananaboy_blue.bmp OK
Extracting player/bananaboy_blue/bananaboy_blue.mdl 6%
player/bananaboy_blue/bananaboy_blue.mdl - CRC failed
Unexpected end of archive
Total errors: 2
I will retry this later.
Edit2:
Map pack this time:
Creating SvenCoop OK
Extracting SvenCoop/2bases2.wad 0%
SvenCoop/2bases2.wad - CRC failed
??? - the file header is corrupt
Total errors: 2

I have an error with the map pack winrar. It doesn't extract any of it and tells me it's corrupt, and points to the 2bases file. I downloaded it again and got the same thing. No idea if thats related but meh... i just download the maps as they load anyways.

There may have been a problem with me uploading it then.
I'll send them off again and let you know when it's done, that means don't try and download either of them now.
I'll then check their integrity against my working copies via MD5.

Meh.. after a 20 hour upload the hashes are different. Something is going wrong during the transfer.

uh oh. Well, are models ok for use?
Hope you sort out the map pack cos even though i download the maps as they load it'd be a load off if i just had them all ready on my HD

Models are fine.
I'll just have to keep uploading the map pack until I get a matching MD5 hash for my copy and the remote one.
13 hours remaining at 32 kB/s.

Have you removed models that do not work properly in sven coop? Some have different animations that don't display correctly, some have files with them that change your name (which normally ends up with the player being called *I tried to use a naughty name*) and some models just don't work at all.

All of the models "work", as in they load up and don't crash. Some of them don't have 3.0 annimations though. I've not looked through them all to see which have them and which don't. Most of them do have the proper annimations so I've not bothered going through them.
As for changing your name, I've not noticed this happen. I guess it's done by a CFG file? There aren't any CFG files in the RAR archive.

I've gone through some of the models and there are quite a few which do not use SvenCoop animations. When free time is available I try to fix some of the models which can easily be transferred over to SvenCoop animations.
The problem is that some models have been scaled to a smaller size i.e Kermit which makes the model deformed if 3.0 animations are applied. Also certain models use a completely different skeleton with custom animations which is probably just as difficult to convert for SvenCoop.
That aside the models still work in game, but animations are incorrectly used whilst holding well, any weapon.

I had the previous model pack installed but I ended up deleting most of them because I thought it looked stupid with players running around with their arms flailing in the air. I noticed the "recon" model has broken anims and I think it's a default model =/

Map pack uploaded, verification successful.
Visit the files page (http://sc.multiplay.co.uk/files.php) for file listing with MD5 hashes. I'll write more on how to verify MD5 hashes your end later.

Okay, just so you know these files will work:
liv3d@tweety ~/mpuk $ md5sum mpuk-svencoop-mappack.rar player-models.rar
a3b11fac5e1d6957e0eb213c723b696f mpuk-svencoop-mappack.rar
62edc862205d8db85d613c423998a930 player-models.rar
liv3d@tweety ~/mpuk $
They both have the same Md5 hash as on the files page and have extracted with no problems :)

yay, it worked perfectly =) and that got me thinking. when you type votemap, you know the list comes up. ok, 63 pages of maps, at 8 maps a page, equals like 500. thats means 500 of the maps cannot be accessed? i think, or i have no idea how to do this. but if there's some way i don't know about could someone tell me, or maybe update the votemap list if possible?
