some guy called me at 2am last night pretty drunk

him "who are you?"
me: "jimmy"
him: "jimmy what?"
me: "who are you"
him: "dont matter who i am, who are you jimmy what?"

more chatting about **** i just hung up and declined his calls for a while but he called me about 50 times or something so i answered and just listened

hes just called today (2pm) again i didnt say anything just listened he called me a few names and threatened me although i have no idea why, saying hes gonna find out where i live etc

what should i do? record calls and go to the police? carry on ignoring him? get a new sim card?

i havent been fooling around with any girls lately really so dont think he has my number from his gfs fone, i dont really want to fight him so not going to provoke him over the phone

ok very little you can do. If you ahve a contract phone then ring you suppliers they can usually change you number free of charge for the first time as this is a malicious caller yes you can report to the police open and incident.

LittleGem had that at the last LlamaLAN ... took half a dozen phone calls in a couple of minutes, very abusive, until she handed the phone to me and I went into, 'Thank you for calling Kent Police's telephone abuse line, this call is being traced, and recorded and your phone provider will be contacted shortly'

:p:

basically, if you don't pay for skype in, it wont give you a number that comes up when you ring someone (at least it used to be this way, so dont ask me if its changed) So basically the call isnt traceable by the person on the other end

I get 600 free minutes a month, of which I use approx 15.

I can stay on the phone - for free - for a very, very long time.

PM'd for number.

What if the phone was stolen and a random chav is making the calls. But now the owner has had that sim reported stolen and his number bounced to his new one. Isn't there a chance you'll all be spamming / abusing an innocent person?

Also, what if Tryck has made that story up and is simply playing a prank on someone by having you lot phone them and annoy them?

My point being, it's probably not a great idea to sink to their level.

If you have a TDD relay system you can call with, that makes for fun that is WAY full of awesome.

Here in the states we have TDD (for those hard of hearing or whatever) and you can just call the system, type whatever, and BY LAW they MUST say everything you typed, even if its threatening, morbid, harassing, whatever (not encouraging those things, just saying). You also must speak directly to the person as the relay person cannot get involved in the conversation.

A good internet based TDD relay in the states is HERE (http://www.ospenterprises.com/phone/) whatever you type in will be read to the person on the other side by a voice sim. You can even choose the sex and country of origin used by the sim. Dunno if it works in the UK though. Of course it should only be used for that which it was designed. :)
