MPUK Allegiance Night - Sat 22nd September!

Yes the fabled MPUK Allegiance nights are back by popular request. Get ready for a night of bomb runs, stealth attacks, and a great deal of Fearhawk Cheese maneouvres! We're meeting from 7:30pm in #allegiance.uk on Quakenet, for an 8pm start.

To take part, you need a copy of the Microsoft Game Allegiance. This is a quality space sim with RTS elements that has had most of the MPUK team hooked at every LAN for the past year. The addiction is brushing off on many of the i-series attendees as well, with Fearhawk (undoubtedly MPUK's most talented commander) even giving a tutorial on the big screen at i8.

For optimum play performance, we'll be hosting the game on an MPUK server. This means you will have to use a little utility called SOVRoute to connect. All you do is run SOVRoute, start up allegiance, and then join a LAN game (SOVRoute redirects the LAN game straight to the online server).

You can download SOVroute from the link below. Just extract the zip and run the sovroute.exe We've changed the .ini to have the MPUK server already in there.

Greetings all.

Not played Allegiance since my last StratLAN so im planning to join you on saterday. :)

Only problem is i dont seem to be able to patch my game having reinstalled it. I got the config patch file from the MS web site, but when i run the game up, it dont want to connect and auto update. :(

Anyone help me out here? Maybe theres somewhere i can get the patches other then the MS server?

Any help would be good, i miss my turret!

Uninstall it, delete the directory and then reinstall. There's a file in there which stores your versions of the files and it's not cleared out on an uninstall.

Also, in true Wizzo style his sovroute link doesn't seems to work, not for me anyway, so here's the website itself: http://home.swbell.net/vencain/sovroute.htm

Yes I outdid myself yet again :). Have now amended the link so that it works by HTTP... saves me mucking around with the permissions on the server:

at some point tonight I will DCC wizzo my custom made zip file which contains the v1.25 update, I'm sure that he'll upload it to the MPUK web for your auto-update free pleasure :smokin:

Am i just a cynic or is hosting it at MPUK servers less to do with it being low lag than its on the MPUK LAN and they get a lan connection while the rest of us use the net?

yes wishy you are being a cynic - the MPUK webservers are hosted by a 3rd party company and no-one (even Wizzo) has a LAN connection to them... but since Allegiance is not as badly affected by lag it shouldn't make much difference

Well ive uninstalled, deleted, rebooted and reinstalled. Still doesnt want to auto-update my game tho :(
So unless anyone can think of anything else, ill have to hope we can get hold of FearHawks wonderful zip file somehow.
