Never Been to StratLAN B4?

HI,

I've not been to one of these before, just been to my first LAN event @ i31 and am considering coming to this one, what tends to be the structure at the StratLAN in comparison, as in what do the majority play, i assume its all fun tourneys, or is it purely social etc?

Purely social lan. Very very rare for a tournament to be arranged, although 'big games' of BF, CSS etc are usually played.

It's a mixture of Social & gaming, there are no "serious" tournaments and there isnt one game that is prefered over any other. The majority play? Ermm Warcraft 3 Mods, Quake 3/ UT / UT2k4 / CS:Source (gun games), random other games. Like Bomberman :D

To compare it to an I series, is difficult, it is a lot more social than an I-Series. Everybody knows everybody else, people are encouraged to join in, before you know it you are part of the lan. Of course that is if your willing to take part and try new/different games you might not normally play. :awesome:

People who do not seem to enjoy it are the ones who turn up expecting the lan to be run for them (eg. games/ tournaments/ prizes/ competitions). It dont work like that!

I prefer Stratlan (to I-series) simply because the majority of my friends are Staff and I get a chance to play games with them at this event.

Well i'm dedicated to the CoD Series, but will always play other games and mix with people quite happily, so it sounds pretty good and laid back, i'll hopefully make an appearance then.

well said..... regarding WOW! lolYou wont really want to play wow that much while there are lots of other things going on to be honest. Even though there are a few, ahem, more hardcore people in hardcore raiding guilds who have to attend you generally only get a few core people at a time - unless one of the major guilds there (MPUK/XW) decide to do something together.

But since the last LAN, Settler VI will be out, omgwtfbbq! Settlers! :D
