tips on your website:
clean it up a bit - far too many links - a lot of them have the same purpose, ie information/FAQs or rules/security. Links that no one will care about such as "web links", "music", "downloads", "donations", you get the idea ;)
Get a nice looking theme.
Sort the forums out.
Dont use PHP/Post nuke :P
Take a look at your staff BIOs, they made me laugh.
Get a venue and dates before you spam the site around :P

Get your own site built. Learn some html and the use of style sheets. Its pretty easy stuff to do!
Phpnuke really isnt great for a lan partys website. Its just to busy for what you need.
Just get a few simple pages created showing simple information.
When i was 16-17 i went through the stage of trying to make some kind of online community. It really isnt work the effort!

You don't need to read such silly articles as that one Wizzo wrote.
It really isn't hard to create a semi-successful LAN party if you just take time to think about it. Don't run with gimicks, jokey crap or leet speak... Thats for your forums.
Make it look professional. Remember that when you start out with making an event you have to attract people to your event. Give people reasons to sign up for your event, you have to sell yourselves to them. People wont just sign up and pay for your event because its a LAN event in their area... You have to act as if you're a company trying to sell a product, because thats basically what you are.
Just think how many other established events there are around the UK now. What makes yours better than those?
And sorry guys, but those 'Managing Director' titles made me giggle.

Hows it all going now?
diddydecoy
9th September 2007, 13:30
its going ok thankyou we might have some gaming tv coverage which is good still having trouble finding a suitable hall we did find one with lots of equipment space and all facilities but was over 1,000 for 1 day which is a bit much for 1st event.
ive decided to gut the site out so its simple and just gives the LAN information.

Nice one...
Yeah, finding venues can sometimes be the most difficult part as a lot of them are unwilling to allow 'young' people to run an event, they don't want overnight stays, or they cant have overnight stays due to insurance reasons.
The ones that you can use are generally stupidly expensive due to a hike in the deposit cost because you're young and its an event they don't quite understand.
Just keep looking I guess... Maybe get in touch with the organisers of a few other LANs in your area and see if they can point you in the right direction.

thanks mate ;)
shouldnt be about how young you are.
its about your goal and trying to reach it really.
were trying a UNI/College in cambridge at the moment they have great camping space and loads of facilities maybe even a few spare rooms.
Keep you updated as much as possible :)
