View Full Version : Maps causing server crashes

Please list maps here that crash a server frequently (not one-off occurrences).

As I do not have direct file access to our servers, it's difficult for me to upload fixed files and update a 1.37 GB map archive. As my home server uses the same set of files, please play maps there to ensure they really do crash. I will try updates on my home server before uploading fixes to MPUKSC.

Home server: server.reece-eu.net:27015 or 88.97.144.81:27015.

After fixing a map on my home server, I will then update the 1.37 GB map pack to be uploaded to MPUKSC and it's servers.

nm_helmsdeep and nm_moria were removed from cycles due to crashing, no idea why :( I didn't know they were still votable.

I'm quite annoyed there are still corrupt files floating about. That's what normally causes crashes. It's a real pain to fix a 1.35 GB map pack AND upload it AND have tech support extract it to the game server.

When you get the chance AdamR could you take a look at sc_egypt? A weird one this. I'm not sure why but every time this map is played on any of the SvenCoop MP servers it constantly causes the server its on to crash. Then a few minutes later the server reappears with the same map and the progress intact, and if someone tries to continue playing on it, it eventually crashes the server again. :keke:

Very odd, last time I played egypt at mpuksc it worked - from start to finish.

I second the sc_egypt part, it's worked at least twice for me.

I played sc_egypt on the KingSize server today. It kept crashing the server again. Seriously! I even asked the other players on the same server to confirm it and it crashed for them too. :-/

I think its just the KingSize server. I can't recall the last time playing it on another MP server.

[Edit] Just tried sc_egypt on the Classic server. I managed to play for a while through the map without it crashing the server. Usually it would have crashed a couple of minutes into playing it.

It didn't start to crash until we were halfway through the map and then it started causing connection problems to the server. Towards the end I lost the connection every other minute. It might not be the map itself, but the servers don't seem to like something about the map.

Very odd each server behaves differently, especially as they all use the same files. I'll look into it :s

dotd spawns alot of zombies, and probably goes above the threshold limit for the servers.

i tryied resident evil 2 minigame or something i dont remember map name , but it crashed the server.Re2minigame was the name i assume ?

Richard Boderman. this on doesn't make the server crash but it should be taken off. in this map my health and armor never move. same with ammo. my crosshair is always shotty or smg (never switches when i switch guns). and when you scroll over a person or cpu it does not regester health and if friend or foe. and i think alot of the guys are not even showing up on my screen because it seems like im getting shot out of nowhere. i've tried 3 seperate times and im pretty sure it's the map and not my computer.



well maybe not i just re-entered 4-time and i could see their health and names =)

4 out of 5 times playing this map, i had errors as explained above, only once it seemed to work right.

The problems go away if you wait for awhile ( 5 minutes ). This worked the last time I played it.

Yes Sc_cyberspy is the one (with the HAL robot). Also we were on IceStormX and the robot at the end I believe(General Fortune) is his name. He was buggy as well. I don't know if this was a glitch or it always happens. But he would not take any damage yesturday. Just stayed at 300hp.

Oh almost forgot. I didn't know where to put this but also yesturday I noticed. After beating the map "vger" it goes to "sc_activist2" not "sc_activist1". Not a big deal, just thought it was weird.

the map "army" has no point it seems. you start in a hallway and run through, fight some ninja's (not many). then end up in a big room with crate/trailer things and above you there's a small line to walk on that looks like it leads to 2 windows pretty high up. but there's nothin out the windows and they cannot be broken. If im missing something tell me, but i ran around for a while and it seems pointless.

here's another weird thing. from the map "projectg1" after you beat it, you go to "sc_tombofdeath" not "projectg2" or could this be because i voted that map "projectg1"

its all the way at the end adam, (pg 63) i thought it was a new map. but i've been trying since the new ones got uploaded and nothin. just get a connection to server timed out message.

I wish ClanForge could sort map lists :( Every time I add a new map it appears at the end - then nobody sees it, apart from you of course.

I'm not sure why but I have noticed that all servers except the Classics have been crashing quite a bit lately during the early stages of map rotations. The problem is I cannot really pinpoint the exact map at which the servers crash as it happens randomly. Basically a crash will potentially occur on just about any map.

I guess it explains the reason why the actual rotation never gets fully used because, as some people might already know, only a handful of custom maps are actually used by the servers unless a vote is made by someone. I think there might be some problems with the servers. :confused:

Never mind. Just take this into consideration. The map rotations seems to be a bit different today, for once. :)

That would explain why it seems like the same handful of maps get played all the time. I'll ask tech support for an image resync.

Hopefully we will see little to no crashes concerning corrupt files (due to this (http://sc.multiplay.co.uk/news.php?view=38)).

A recovery record and verified extracted files will gatentuee that any corrupted files is the fault of mappers rather than our installation procedure.

I've asked for it to be extracted again. I will let you all know when I receive a reply to say it's been done.

sc_outpost_v2 // This one is odd. It let me play until I got about 150 kills or so, then everthing stops and I get "connection error" The server doesn't crash, just immediatly restarts rotation. Tried twice and in the same spots it did it.

sandstone on the Classics crashes. I thought it was a coincidence at first but I just tried voting for it and then it crashes the server again.

Support have been (and still are) cleaning up our sven co-op image. For some reason it got corrupted and loads of "???????????????????" files got made. No idea why. Should be fixed shortly :)

I've added Case Closed (case1) and Earthquake Test Centre (etc) near the start of both the customs and king size map cycles, as they are good missions to play.

case6 in this series causes the server to crash and reset. Just happened a minute ago. :)

delete the offending map in your map folder and re-download it helps alot.

Just this minute the server (customs) crashed trying to load case9 so it must be corrupt or something :/

NExt time it loads we'll need to see if there are any errors shown in the console. Sometimes a crash occurs due to loading more than 512 models/items.

When case9 loaded:
16:48:37 FATAL ERROR (shutting down): Host_Error: PF_precache_model_I: Model 'models/apache.mdl' failed to precache because the item count is over the 512 limit.
16:48:37 Reduce the number of brush models and/or regular models in the map to correct this.
**** all I can do about that :( The person who made the map needs to fix it (in this case Hezus for porting it over to Sven).

Just discovered that problem was caused by the pet followers mod caching far too many resources not leaving enough for bigger maps to use.

ragemap crashes lot of tiemes when u come to one room fuuh dunno where it is exactly but somwhere after 4 ickys and before u get longjump and u have to jump trough that moving walls. i think new spawn is in that room but im not sure :)

Ragemap can be fixed by the sven community as it's their map. I mean, 20 or so people working on the map - one of them must know how to fix it.

a_jungle_1 I've never played, I will need to do so before fixing it.

Yeah I don't know why it crashes on mpuk servers. It never did on my home server or listen server.

vger2alpha crashing the server every time you climb on top of the tank.
I believe this the tank is the trigger for the next part of the map.
