Me and my team are coming down next friday to participate in the GoW wcg event.

Im so glad that WCG managed to sort out the age restrictions with the BBFC nice to see people doing the rite thing.

One concern it sais 16+ can play but need a consent form, one of my members is 17 and he couldnt find it nor could i, so i was wondering if he got a letter from his parents saying they gave him permission to play would that be ok??

I need to know ASAP as im in the process of booking a hotel and train tickets which will be done tommorow..

Thanks for your help ;-)

Im fairly sure a signed letter from their parents would be fine, and I think that the letter was more needed for taking the winners to america, so even if its the wrong letter I imagin you would still have time to sort it out before the grand final.

edit: heres a link to the standard concent form for multiplay events, this should be fine.

Actually there is a little bit of bad news on this. Due to intervention by a BIG company to be as yet un-named, the age restriction is being raised to 18 again.

The WCG site is being updated to reflect this.

We will do everything we can to negotiate and try and get this reduced to 16 again, but there is no guarantee.

WAAA how can this be when my team are playing this weekend at XL and they allow 15's and over to play with a consent form and extreme content off in the settings, surely this BIG company must allow it at WCG to.

Also some of my team have been on xleague.TV sky channel 279 to showcase there skills and there both 17 .....

Okay, I have an update on this, and it is not good.

The company in question is the UK offices of Microsoft. As the game's publisher and owner and contributor towards the WCG, they have made it clear in no uncertain terms that we must enforce an 18 and over age policy for this competition, both to compete and to spectate the games being played.

As far as we can tell this is a decision made soley by the UK branch of Microsoft, and is not going to be globally enforced in other territories.

We have been in discussion with them in an attempt to reach a compromise. As some of you have pointed out, there are other leagues and tv stations that have held competitions for this game and have not had this issue. Wether or not those simply fell below Microsoft's radar, I do not know, however it is irrelevant. Microsoft UK have made their decision and are refusing to budge. Our hands are tied.
