With the StarCraft event, is it bo3 or what? Where can we see the groups? I can only see one opponent.

Would be a good idea to inform the players by email!

Majority of the people don't visit this website. Perhaps you can inform them by email?

I just took a look at the Starcraft map pack and you are using the maps from 2005 I believe instead of the updated 2007 maps. The map Paranoid Android is greatly improved in the modern version and you have Estrella instead of Peaks of Baekdu. However Estrella is considered unfair with P>Z so I welcome you keeping it this way. Midian is unlikely to be amused however so you should probably update it. If you wish I can upload the wcg maps for 2007 or if, by some bizarre twist of fate, you chose to use these maps then I thank you for your kindness.

18th July 2007, 12:22
Hi KwarK,

Please do upload the 2007 tournament maps to ftp://ukftp.multiplay.co.uk/incoming
I only put the 2005 maps up as I couldn't find the 07 ones :(

Elsi
18th July 2007, 12:51
At this present time, there's a slight problem with WCG Maps.

First of all D0c, if you've read the rules, you would of notice that "Estrella" is no longer in the map list :P

keke :P

Kwark, the german version of PA isn't an official map of WCG, it's only being used for WCG Germany. WCG International has no intension of replacing this map with the older version of Paranoid Android at this present moment.

There's slight confusion regarding Neo Peaks of Baekdu, many people would like to use the 2.4 version as it's a lot more balanced than the old one.

I suggest we use the newer version of Peaks, with many countries doing the same, such as, Germany, Croatia, Czech Republic, China and so on.

D0c, could you please inform players by email regarding qualifiers please?

KwarK.cF-
18th July 2007, 12:57
I'll leave the mapfinding to Elsi then. I'd hope you accept the more balanced versions as so many other WCG committees have done.

Elsi
18th July 2007, 13:19
Ok, I've upload the correct maps.

D0c you can delete the old ones :P

ftp://ukftp.multiplay.co.uk/incoming/WCG2007MAPS

Can you put it into the right folder :P You can edit the ftp server, I can't :P

Ahh, little bit hard to find out who you play, other than this thread? Please e-mail all users on how to find out. It isn't very clear on the wcg page.

In terms of starcraft, is this bo1? Just one map?? Or is it bo3?? Also, teh date that is set, can this be played at another time if arranged with other player? Or must it be played then?

D0c
18th July 2007, 14:41
Rules and map links updated to the ones Elsi uploaded. We are using Single Match as opposed to best of 3 for the qualifiers (both online and at i31 last chance) to ensure that all matches get played under the same conditions as we do not have enough time to do best of 3 for the friday last chance qualifiers. The Finals will be best of 3 (on the Saturday of i31) if you qualify.

There will be an email going out to all players as soon as the devs have gotten up a public match list of all matches.

Elsi
18th July 2007, 14:45
you can't do a bo3 for the online qualifiers? As it's online, doesn't really matter, I understand for offline, but online ??

Also D0c, perhaps you could add all the maps into one folder? Just an idea.

Plz update the WCG website, I can't find who's in my group etc, is that going to be online tonight?

Chewits
18th July 2007, 14:46
arf. Bo1 is really bad. Its kinda unfair as well. Considering that some maps favour some race match ups than others. If it is online, I don't see why It cannot be best of 3. Best of 3 would be much much fairer, with looser picking the next map.

But, if that that, then thats that. What about the times?

ChrisyBullard
18th July 2007, 16:02
WHat will the fifa format be in the finals.

I know at SEC it was best of 3, double elimination with 6min matches.

WOuld be good to see them rules

There was a bug in the Starcraft League that only set your first match; this has now been fixed but may have changed your scheduled tournaments. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Yes, I agree.

D0c please rethink this decision. Doesn't make any sense playing an online qualifier with a Bo1 format T_T;

someone rethink the decision to leave aoe3 out -.-, would for sure have been more than 12 guys signed up for qualifying

The AOE3 discussion was over ages ago. Now is not the time to drag it back up again.

D0c
19th July 2007, 12:42
I've been talking all day to the higher-ups about bo3 for online qualifiers and can now confirm that Starcraft, Warcraft III and Command and Conquer Online and Finals matches will be a best of 3 format. The player on the left of the clanforge match listing may decide the first round map (from the authorised WCG maplist), the player on the right may decide the second round map and in case of a tie break, the map shown by Clanforge must be used for the third round.

The Friday Last Chance Qualifying rounds are still best of one due to time constraints.

An email to all players in WCG Online tournaments will be sent momentarily with further details of your tournaments.

Cheers,
Antony 'Doc' Gardner

Is the full online qualifier schedule for all players available yet? I can only see my matches. After them 2 matches is the structure of the double elimination available aswell?

Cheers

Edit: Nevermind. I just realised the link is on the left hand side of the link in your first post. Thanks

Elsi
20th July 2007, 13:11
With reporting, we must click on that link you gave us in the first post to report a game? Because I can't find that link on the tournament page.

Must play both games at 21:00 or whenever basically?

Elsi
20th July 2007, 13:21
Can we use the same map twice?

Example,

1st game Me vs Chewits, I pick Gaia,
2nd game, Me vs Chewits, he picks Paranoid Android

Goes to a decider, one set all, clanforge says we must use Gaia, so were allowed use the map twice?

D0c
20th July 2007, 15:04
When you complete a match, you can go to 'Your Matches' and enter in the score (2-0, 2-1 etc). When both players have entered the same results, it gets added to the system automatically. This will be made available on Monday when the matches begin.

You can choose any map from the maplist when it is your turn to select a map (even if it is the same as the tie breaker)

To clarify the bo3 format and hosting of games, All matches will be held on Battle.net. The player listed first on the Your Matches page will host Map 1, with the second player hosting Map 2. If any match goes to a deciding 3rd map, you'll need to ask for a Neutral Host in #mpukwcg on Quakenet. There will likely be enough people available to host them, however you may have to wait for a match that's in-progress to complete.

If it goes to a 3rd game, we can host ourself, saves time trust me :P Every one has the official maps so it's all good :P

Boffykins
21st July 2007, 23:44
The point being that it's a neutral host so that pings aren't brought into question. If both players agree on one person hosting then I guess that'd be fine too.

22nd July 2007, 13:22
yes I wouldnt like someone else hosting lol have a neutral party do that.

oh one question on the byoc wc3 tourney is there any pre qualifiers or can we just attend the lan and play.

Qualifier information (http://wcg.multiplay.co.uk/2007/events/qualifiers.php)
A Last Chance day of qualifiers is being run on the Friday of i31. If you are unable to make the above qualifiers, you can turn up and try your chances at i31.

If you want to take part in the qualifiers on the Friday of i31, or bring your PC to take part in the BYOC LAN taking place over the same weekend, please proceed to Step 1 of Registration.

What's the procedure tonight? Play our games and report them? The link to report the games isn't made public?

Elsi
23rd July 2007, 14:44
Also, how are we supposed to track down these players? Can you give us their email address'?

Boffykins
23rd July 2007, 14:44
Report at the Your Matches link. You need to meet up in #mpukwcg on Quakenet.

KwarK.cF-
23rd July 2007, 16:49
What's the policy on observers? A few guys I know want to ob and they are solid guys. There is the potential for telling the a player the opponents builds but if both players agree to the obs are they allowed? As for meeting in #mpukwcg on Quakenet, I don't irc. If i hang out in the default home channel of GBR on my WCG account will that be sufficient?

Boffykins
23rd July 2007, 16:52
If both players agree to the observer beforehand and inform an admin, I don't see any problem. Likewise if you can meet your opponent on bnet then fine. However, the rules state that you have to meet in #mpukwcg on Quakenet, so if you're not there and your opponent is, he could apply for a default.

Mr_Bond
23rd July 2007, 17:18
so for warcraft 3 TFT,

how do we arrange games?
is there a channel we meet in?

p.s. spike meet me in channel "multiplay" on bnet 6:30 to arrange game on Monday

I can hang out in brood war gbr-1 channel - uk home channel on brood war

On another note. How can you change your aka? atm mine is Chewits, but I acutally use Chewits[MB] on battle.net - i seen other people have changed theirs. How do you do that? Cheers

Boffykins
23rd July 2007, 22:29
As said above, even for WC3 and SCraft, you should meet in #mpukwcg or you could be liable for a default. For Mac, you want a program called Colloquy (http://colloquy.info/).

You can change your Alias here (http://www.multiplay.co.uk/changedetails.asp), however your matches may not get updated right away. If they don't, post here or grab someone in #mpukwcg and we'll try and fix it.

Elsi
24th July 2007, 08:39
When I click on My Matches, the page is blank :P Any idea of how to resolve this problem?

Boffykins
24th July 2007, 08:49
Have you changed your alias at all?

Elsi
24th July 2007, 09:19
Nope,

when I click on the link provided by D0c in the opening post it works, but when I manaully click on My Matches all I see is a blank page!

Boffykins
24th July 2007, 09:40
And the one that doesn't work is the one you get if you go to:
1. http://wcg.multiplay.co.uk/
2. Click "Tournaments"
3. Underneath "Your WCG", click "Matches"

?

Elsi

8 leagues of 4, Top 2 of each league promoted to an 8 player Double Elimination.

8 leagues x 2 from each = 16
It says 8 player double elimination. Should that be 16?

7 leagues x 3

All Starcraft, Warcraft 3 and CNC3 players, please make sure you report your scores either to an admin in #mpukwcg or via the WCG site.

If you're NOT playing at the advertised time, please inform an admin so we can keep track.

Thanks.

Elsi
24th July 2007, 21:07
My opponent didn't show up, I don't mind playing 2moro!

With Sc, only top 1 goes through? not top 2?

Boffykins
24th July 2007, 21:25
Top of league only. The reason leagues aren't showing yet is cos Round 1 hasn't fully completed. So get those scores in!

Elsi
26th July 2007, 08:33
With the StarCraft qualifier, I'm puzzled with one thing, what's the Double Elim Round 2? It has 4 slots?

Is there a loser bracket at all?

I hope so =o
