The Co* client is for both games. I know nothing about building a VG base, sorry.

Yes, as I remember the client is for both.
I had a look at CoH a few weeks back, for old times sake.... I felt rather lonely!
Not something you feel in Eve on a Sunday night :)

Co* is suffering at the moment with lag issues. As are quite a few MMO games. Apparently there are problems with Level3 the data transport people in Germany which is causing quite a large cross section of people considerable packet loss.
The population of the game is taking a hit as many people can't play with the amount of lag. With any luck they will sort it out, or it could be the end of the game really, especially if people stop paying!

Is this game any good. Was gonna give CoV a try if it was but from this thread it sounds like servers are a bit empty?

When City of Heroes was just released, there were thousands of people online and it used to crash, quite often. They then fixed that but then came the problem of the lag when switching zones/areas and also logging in.
I found it a really good game until my ex-boyfriend eventually persuaded me into joining World of Warcraft... then I gave it a break and got City of Villains. Loved it, still do. I used to play both characters (Hero and Villain) often but then me and my current boyfriend got hooked back onto World of Warcraft, hahaha.
It's worth it in my opinion, but I think NCSoft need to sort out the problems that our majorly effecting the players, and their opinions of the game.
There is one client for the two parts of the game - and you must pay for the other pack if you only have the other one. No extra charges, apart from buying the other one. However, most stores sell both packs together now for about £15.
