Thursday 29th November to Sunday 2nd December - Set yourselves to arrive end of Wendesday 28th

Wizzo will do group ticket order - tickets will be ordered on 25th September, so the final list and event ticket payments need to be received by Monday 24th.

Travel, sort yourselves out.

As a starter Wizzo and I are on these flights and will take a train to Jonkoping. Ticket cost with BA is £105 (or £225 if you upgrade for maximum lounge abuse at Heathrow and back)

So Far I know that the following have booked flights to attend :- (so are attending)

Team Heathrow - Wizzo BugAlugs Bootz Boffbowsh RTO Elbonio
Flight: BA0814
From: Heathrow (London) Terminal 4 To: Copenhagen Terminal 2
Depart: Wed 28 Nov 2007, 09:40 Arrive: Wed 28 Nov 2007, 12:30
Flight: BA0821
From: Copenhagen Terminal 2 To: Heathrow (London) Terminal 4
Depart: Sun 2 Dec 2007, 19:55 Arrive: Sun 2 Dec 2007, 21:00

Team Standsted - Cyphus Jingles
Flight: Easyjet 3465
From: London Stansted To: Copenhagen
Depart: Wed 28 Nov 2007, 13:00 Arrive: Wed 28 Nov 2007, 15:45
Flight: EasyJet 3468
From: Copenhagen To: London Standsted
Depart: Sun 2 Dec 2007, 21:55 Arrive: Sun 2 Dec 2007, 22:45

Train fares can now be booked :-

In Advance non-refund 2nd Class return £35
In Advance refund before train return 2nd £70
1st Class, refund when you want £140
1st Class to JKG and then 1st restricted back £100

Wizzo and I are booked on the 14:36 CPH Airport > 15:14 Malmo > 17:06 Nassjo > 17:52 JKG
And return 14:07 JKG > 14:53 Nassjo > 16:46 Makmo > 17:23 CPH Airport

Seats for the X2000 train are Carriage 2 18 & 19 out Carriage 2 16 & 19 return

I suggest we take an open ticket out (incase of late planes etc) and then plan for a cheapy ticket on the way back, so damage will be about £50ish. Trains feature wireless internet and foodage. Train journey time around 3.5hours

Then once in CPH Kastrup Airport the Train Options are plentiful for example >

Indeed - success at 'the game' seems to hang on your ability to throw as many bodies at the problem as possible - so we clearly need to pester more people into coming along :D

Also, we'll have to see if we can get someone interviewed by one of the TV crews again. Who was it that they clobbered in the end?

Murray-Mint

I'm definitely in for this, getting plane, train, hotel at the end of the month on payday (this payday was spent on the laptop I need for Dreamhack).

RTO

I will be booking all very shortly. Flag waving is a must. Everyone must contribute to our domination of The Game, there will be more competition this time.

Elbonio
6th September 2007, 09:57
edit:

I'm not sure if I can afford this.

Flights: £160
Train: £90
DH Ticket: £50
Hotel: £160 (sharing with 3 others)
Food/misc: £40

Total: £500

I would be taking a PC in bits in a suitcase and you just know that something wont work when I get there.

£500 for a LAN which may or may not be spent with me browsing the web on my laptop seems like a bit too much.

It costs... a surprising amount - it all adds up quickly. This time, there is:

Ticket
Hotel
Flights
Train
Airport Car Parking (If you can't get a lift/train).

Cant give any figures for these off the top of my head. As for PCs, gaming laptops FTW :).

They provide crash places for those who don't need a hotel. Plane is the fasted route and often the cheapest, then ataking a cheap train from Stockholm or Copenhagen.

packing my rather heavy and large pc/22" LCD

:o

I've taken my 'large shuttle' size PC before (in my hand luggage) and 17" TFT wrapped in all the towels in hold baggage. I'm not sure how to suggest going about a large PC/tft.

Remember weight limits on baggage allowance, BA have the following policy for Europe:

FIRST and Club World– 3 Bags
Club Europe and World Traveller Plus- 2 Bags
World Traveller and Euro Traveller – 1 Bag
Maximum dimensions per bag (H+W+L): 158cm (62in)
Maximum weight per bag: 23kg (51lbs)*

Obviously this varies from airline to airline tho.

Of course Team Win currently going from LHR are all hand baggage only pros :)

Has to be said, if ez64 can't make it to DH, I'm looking for someone willing to share a room. Have cash to pay for my share! Willing to sleep on the floor too :)

ez64

looks like im likley to be coming now, the only factors now are

being able to pack my pc. doesnt matter If I use the laptop

and the hotel having free rooms.

and being able to sit near anyone at dream hack.

and does my pc and everything in my one big bag thats going to the cargo hold have to be 23kg/3.62 stone? again doesnt matter if I use the laptop.

if so I have got a acer with a x700 in it, and then bring my monitor keyboard etc. but honestly id be installing games on the way there which is suckage but do'able.

but the HDD is only 80gb that could be a big problem/ and I cannot use my 5.1 headphones.

BugAlugs
22nd November 2007, 14:48
never fear the event has massive floors, nice a dark.. a sea of inflateables

ez64
22nd November 2007, 14:53
but I do like to shower and actually get some rest during a lan. and a inflatable/floor mat/ requires space I do not have

RTO
22nd November 2007, 15:18
If you are coming look to ditch as much as possible. Monitor, etc, etc are first to go. If you have a suitable laptop just use that and start prepping it with games now.

ez64
22nd November 2007, 15:30
taking my monitor keyboard etc just ditching the pc. should easily make 3 stone.

anyone got any sata to usb adapters that they have got lying around.

Boffykins
22nd November 2007, 15:34
Don't take the monitor. It is not worth it. Trust us.

Aardvark
22nd November 2007, 15:34
Entrusting a monitor to airport baggage handlers? You sir are a braver man than I...

ez64
22nd November 2007, 15:41
Ok then probably wont bring the monitor, just emailed the Scandic Elmia will ring if they dont respond shortly, so its all holding on the hotel and if they havent got any spaces how fast can I find another.

one main question hows swedish night life, as Ill likley be in it for most of the lan in a cardboard box :awesome:.

once again I plead for a usb to sata, and a 5.1 to stereo converter, im going to try and get one before but if anyone has one that I could buy please say.

RTO
23rd November 2007, 15:06
How can your PC have 5.1 audio out, but not stereo?

It's -6 at the moment and the venue is about 15-20mins walk from the nearest bit of 'night life' you are likely to find ;)

WhiteKnight
23rd November 2007, 16:25
From the other thread i think he has 5.1 headphones, but only a stereo laptop. So he cant use his headphones with the laptop properly without some kind of adaptor.

For those heading to DH and wishing to find us, we are sat in Row D63 in the main hall, seats 66 onwards (from the aisle in). We do still have 3 spare seats going in our group, so if anyone still wants one please get in touch asap as time is running out to transfer them.

Rumour has it that Sam and Lizzie from Kwari will occupy two of those seats if we don't resell them, as they are off in some VIP area somewhere atm :)

So, it turns out that of all the people at the Scandic Elmia tonight, Craig, Jay and Robin have zero'd in on the heart and soul of the barflys. Yes ladies and gentlemen - the lawnmower men!

What happened with your laptop Cyphus?

Cyphus
4th December 2007, 09:49
Well, I came back on Friday morning to find that someone had unplugged everything from my laptop - power, network, mouse, etc. Then I was told that the guys sitting behind me had noticed someone fiddling with it in the wee-small hours, and that they had shoo'd them off. First time I've had anything like that happen at a LAN - just glad that the Kensington lock did it's job, and that they were spotted in time.

Needless to say, I didn't leave it there overnight again. Pretty sure it was probably just an opportunist, but I didn't want to tempt fate.

Boffykins
4th December 2007, 09:56
After that, Jingles and Cyphus took theirs away overnight, but the majority of us left them there all Kensington'd up. There didn't seem to be any other evidence of people messing.

Eek!

Do you guys reckon that being sat by the escalators had anything to do with it? :S

Boffykins
4th December 2007, 10:32
It's possible I guess. We were a row of 9 laptops which probably didn't help. I think Kensingtons are good enough of a deterrant to be honest.

Murray-Mint
4th December 2007, 10:35
Good seats though :) Maybe next time similar location but with a better view of the stage :)

eeek! I think I left around 5.30am, but then may not have noticed that far down the row. Bastards. Thankfully we are more sensible and it didn't get taken.

That bit. If you look for the Union Flag just below the middle of the picture, you can just about about make out the back of Bugs' shirt. Admittedly it's not obvious, unless you knew where we were sitting.

Nice set of videos up on the Dreamhack site, give a good feel of the kind of stuff that goes on:

http://web.dreamhack.se/index.php?language=en

Also - I'm totally in that picture - you can just about see my shoulder and a bit of my head, just to the left of the big guy in the orange top. Murray seems to be completely absent though.
