Can confirm the ban, and I didn't publically announce it given I've played against you a fair bit in the past and my gut feeling is you're not a lame player.

I'd like to ask the other admins before lifting this ban, however - intentional or not you created a speedhack and one that is devastating on SLV servers. Will get back to you in a few days.

It's a hack that effects speed.

:P Makes you appear glitchy, fast, and hard to shoot.

I never had any problems with him - so I would say be lenient

Okay - admin poll returns a fairly even split between unban immediately and give a temp ban, so let's split the different and call it "time already served". We're all fairly happy given your long history with us that it wasn't intentional.

Ban's now lifted on our servers, Alf - have fun!

What exactly is the problem and why did you use the -cpuspeed switch? It's just that I use a Laptop and when I first run UT it runs at 2 or 3 times normal speed, and is unplayable either when starting a new game or joining a game. I need to go to Preferences, and change the display settings, so that UT starts closing down. In the display settings screen I accept all the defaults and run the game again and it's fine. It's because of CPU Ramping or something.

I did try the -cpuspeed command, and it appeared to be fine, but I did get a comment once that I was moving about erratically, even though I'd put the correct cpuspeed variable, (according to what processor I have). I just avoid the switch and settle for having to run UT twice every time I want to play it.

Just thought I'd say...on the off chance you're having the same problem as I was.

The anti-cheat only activates when the --cpuspeed switch is nothing like the real cpu speed. That's when it causes problems.

It has definately been used for cheating in the past, but now most kicks seem to be accidental. Making it kick instead of just warn has pretty much stopped the amount of speedhacking done on the slv servers.

my problem is my laptop overheats... i think i can play like 10 minutes really fine, then when the video card is too hot i guess, i gets worse and worse...

i now use "Notebook Hardware Control" that can set the video clock to run at lower frequencies, its not completely optimal, but still better

its amazing after all those guyz that overclocks their ubervideocardorz to underclock mine but he !
