So saw SUPCOM at GAME last weekend going for 29.99 so decided to buy it, and to my surprise it had been marked down to 19.99 but not stickered. Bargin i thought to myself.

Not being much of an RTS fan of late (last one i really played was Act of War) i thought i'd give it a go. Surprisingly i rather enjoy it, and im slowly getting to grips with it. Although i find myself just working through the various difficulties of skirmish AI rather than doing the campaigns untill im familiar with everything, before i jump online and get raped :P

Few questions though. The dual monitor stuff, worth it? is it an SLI only feature or does the option get enabled when 2 monitors are plugged in? (only using one atm so haven't checked). Whats the deal with the adjacency bonuses ? do they only come into play when a building is surrounded by a certain number of say power generators? or does each generator add a certain percentage bonus to the adjacent building? and if i have a row of 4 T1 generators sandwiched between 2 landfactories is the bonus applied to both (indicated by the glowing connections) or split between the 2?

Anyway i shall be hanging around in #mpuksupcom so if theres any noob friendly games going feel free to give me a slap :P

Depends how much you're going to play it at lans, its ok but nothing amazing, however I like it quite alot.

Can use it using one graphics card.

Power Plants, Mass Fabs and Mass Extractors are all affected by being adjacent to either Storage or Power plants. Energy or Mass storage increases the production of the thing you are surrounding, by a certain percentage that i cant remember. Ie for a level 3 mass extractor, surrounding it with mass storage gives you +6 mass production. Factorys also have bonuses when you place power or mass producing structures around them, with the cost of the production in said factory being reduced. Each side of a building only needs one building to be adjacent with that side to have the benefit applied. EG these two setups have the same bonuses on the factory in terms of power cost reduction.

so if i had a factory/whatever with a power plant and mas fab on each side, id get both reduced power usage and reduced mass usage?

like so...

M's being mas fabs/extractors?

also as you say surrounding a mas fab with mas storage gives +6 mass, but does say surrounding it with power plants reduce its power usage by whatever amount?

Yes that would reduce mass as well.

Yes surrounding it by power plants does also reduce its power useage, which is good.

this site has everything about RTS's and some FPS's - go to the sup comm section there and ask/read away, very good community full of top ranked players and actual members of GPG staff - so start reading :p

I also advise irc channel #supcom-live as there tends to be more chatter and people that will answer questions during the day/night.

Of course asking on here is also fine, more than welcome to help new supcom players :)

Main thing I would say from my early days, me and bvark sucked pretty much especially me. Took us a good few nights of 2v2's in beta to become remotely good. Don't worry about losing at the end of the day and try to watch replays when beaten to see just how they got the better of you.
