View Full Version : World Cyber Games @ i8 Cancelled

It has been confirmed today that the World Cyber Games Starcraft tournament for the UK has been dropped. Despite weeks of chasing, we were extremely disappointed to have our increasing fears confirmed today at this late stage before i8.

The World Cyber Games in the UK would appear to be on rocky ground due to several operational problems, though the main issue appears to be associated with its global sponsorship program. As a result, i8 will no longer act as a prequalifier.

We're extremely disappointed by this, and can only apologise to those who were looking forward to these events at i8. However, Multiplay UK is by no means at fault, having acted in good faith in all our negotiations, only to be seriously let down at the last minute.

All is not lost thought, with i8 set to host the Blueyonder Quake 3 Duel tournament, with a prize pot of £2,500. With Blueyonder being the main sponsors and everything already confirmed, there is no chance of this going the same way as the WCG. Details on the Blueyonder tournament will be going up later today, and registrations are already open in the i8 tournament signup.

Apologies once again. All the i8 tournaments will still run as usual, and we'll all have a great event in spite of this. Less than a week to go now!
