getting horribly, horribly drunk, due to getting 2 D's and a U... and as such, not getting the grades I need to get into Uni... Hurrah!

Hmm, always HND's I guess... Ah well...

What else did those of you that got ya A level results today get then?

Ahhh dont get depressed whatever you do. You will still get into uni, probably even the one you are after. Just make sure you go talk to them! They will probably have loads of spaces left (even some of the oversubscribed courses do).

Just get your ass on the phone NOW!

UCAS is one major ****ed up system, so there is always a way around it ;) I knows, coz I ****ed up my a-levels :p:

My Results (full a-levels)

Computing - A
Maths - B

It wasn't enough to get into any uni given that I didn't apply ;)

Still undecided quite what I'm actually gonna do with these a-levels atm but I do have them :)

I recommend The Year in Industry Scheme (http://www.yini.org.uk) (www.yini.org.uk). Ive just finished it, and helped me a lot... money for Uni and a years work experience makes you amazingly employable. Even though it looks like an engineering thing, its not. I have friends going mainly to do engineering, but a lot are going to do Computer Science, maths, physics and psycology. Basically if you are going to or want to do something science related..do this scheme.

Its not too late to apply to start in september I dont think, but I doubt you'd get exactly the place you want. Dont need good grades or anything (My friend had CEE) plus you get a NEBS Management Certificate (another qualification for your CV) which apparently is worth as much as 2 A-Levels or a GNVQ. Its also the easiest blo0dy 2 A-levels I did. You need 50% overall to get it cos theres no grading system, just pass, or fail.

I'm fairly happy. I did A/S levels and got:

A in Electronics
B in Maths
B in Physics
D in German (which I'm dropping next year anyway)

All is good!

Did Computing, Economics and General Studies (yes, I'm the layabout that quit an A level because he couldn't be arsed...)

I didn't try hard enough, in fact, I didn't try hard at all, which is why I got the grades I did...

Trying to get into Bradford, would be helpful if the world and their wives weren't trying to phone them at the same time I am...

Thank gawd for deferred entry, got a year to pester them into letting me on the course, and a year to go back and do some different A Levels in if needs be...

That's bad Ginga!!! Me is confused with the "U" aswell. To get 1n of them isn't it, get lower than 10% or not take the test.

If you got a U for as, your in the top 14% of layabouts

Ginga
17th August 2001, 06:55
To be honest, I got the U in Economics, a subject that I came to hate due to the utterly stupid teaching methods, such as having 3 teachers for the one subject, all teaching different parts in their own styles... That and I suck at it!

I had 4 teachers for maths. but 10hrs 40 mins of lessons a week.
Got A for maths (300 out of 300 for the pure module, but when you've been studying further pure for about a year before this exam, this isnt hard), C for further and B for AS-Stats.

But that was a year ago. I now have 1 years work experience which will make employers kiss my arse when I finish uni.

critical brainwashing (critical thinking (you WILL THNIK LIKE THIS, IT IS CLEVER)) got E (wahoo)

pure 1 and mechanics 1 got A's
pure 2 and mechanice 2 got C's (not good for furthur maths)

chemisty got D's (oops)

physics got a in coursework d and c in exam

all in all not too good, but my parents still though it good enought to buy some more ram so im happy

****ting hell, i just got my itemised results, I got a couple 100%ers in computing and buisness. 100% in practical systems development should be a fairly good up yours to martin brown for predicting me a C.

But the AS is a new system isn't it?

KermitTheFrag
20th August 2001, 09:32
AS isnt... it was around when I did my A's (few years back). It's kind of like and A-level except significantly easier.

The bit that always got me about A-levels was simple lack of choice. I'd love to have done A-level Computing, Maths and Electronics but had to do Maths, Physics and Chemistry due to going to the ****tiest school in the country.

20th August 2001, 09:44
I know AS level isn't, but taking them on for a second year / dropping one is, or at least thats how everywhere was selling it.
I go to a huge college (3tho people) so theres plenty of choice, even if they are crap at talking to eachother
