You are cordially invited to join Team Elite (and Wizzo) in loveli Sverige for the Summer installment of OFFICIALLY the world's largest LAN. We'll be travelling out via SAS group booking on the Friday 15th June from Heathrow and returning to Blighty on Tuesday 19th.
It's an excellent event and something that every serious gamer should experience. Plus it's a chance to see the MPUK crew actually enjoying a large LAN as a participant!
Flight cost: ~£235 to Jonkoping via Copenhagen (non-refundable £25 deposit needs to be paid to BugAlugs by the 30th March - PM him via the forums to confirm your attendance). Flights leave Heathrow at 1650 on the 15th, landing back in Heathrow at 2100 on the 19th.
Dreamhack ticket: ~£50 (Wizzo will be purchasing a group block of tickets, once you've confirmed your flight with BugAlugs contact Wizzo to confirm your DH ticket).
Hotel: Sort out yourself, the local hotel is the Scandic Elmia (http://www.scandic-hotels.com/elmia). Rooms happily sleep 4 people, post here if you're looking for sleeping buddies.

DUDES it is now " TIME TO PAY " yes the total of the airline fair is now due.
£237.80 each is the total amount (Minus the £25 you have already sent) means I need a fat payment of £212.80 each. Bank transfer is welcome immediatly, i'll be paying SAS at the end of this week. For flight payments, PM BugAlugs. There might also be some options to pay some now some later etc through me, or even do some sort of nasty balance transfer if you need to.

The price of the actual seats will vary with exchange rate and go down slightly with more tickets bought (as the booking fee and expedited international transfer fee is split across more). For now I'd ask for £50 each from everyone. Anything more than that can just be paid once the exact cost is known.
I actually need this asap, as I will have to send cold hard cash in a transfer on Friday to secure the seats. Most of the people on the list already have my details, but for those who don't please PM me/catch me on IRC and I'll provide.

I'm going, but shan't be flying to Jonkoping, instead I shall be saving my pennies with the following:
Outbound, 15th June -- Heathrow (London) Arlanda (Stockholm) BA0778:
Dep: 11:20 Arr: 14:50
Inbound, 19th June -- Arlanda (Stockholm) Heathrow (London) BA0781:
Dep: 18:35 Arr: 20:15
Total cost for flights (inc taxes): £107.90
Then getting the train (s****y 200+km/h jobs, not the **** we get in the uk).
Stockholm C -> Jonkoping C
Dep: 16:55 Arr: 20:12
Jonkoping C -> Stockhoklm C
Dep: 13:10 Arr: 16:40
197 SEK out, 95 SEK back, total: 292 SEK (~£21.00). This is based on you being under 26, if you're an old fogie :P it'll cost ~£30.
Wizzo
21st March 2007, 13:56
Bear in mind those train fares are non-refundable and subject to limited availability (if you're going for the 2nd klasse just nu), but then you're booking well in advance. We had an issue before where the flight was delayed an hour meaning we missed the train and ended up paying for taxis.
RTO
21st March 2007, 14:05
Indeed, so this time I've gone for the earlier BA flight, getting in at 14:50, the train isn't until 16:55 giving us 2 hours between. I just don't see the group option as a real saving. The £100 less it will cost will pay for the hotel for the event.
BugAlugs
21st March 2007, 14:13
I never said saving, nor was it implied. It is just easier.
anyway as long as we all end up in the same place, i don't care how you get there.
Wizzo
21st March 2007, 14:14
The saving on the flights is more about time/arsing about as much as any cost saving (for those of us not lucky enough to be <26 :p). We take off at 16:50 from LHR and land in JKN at 2120, so 4.5 hours in total including a stop over at Copenhagen. If there are any delays, the airline is responsible for sorting out our onward travel.
The train option means leaving LHR at 11:20 and not getting into JKN until 20:12, just shy of 9 hours. Don't forget the cost of the arlanda express to the train station too... was about £20 iirc.
To each their own though. I fancy more convenience and luxury this time :p
RTO
21st March 2007, 14:39
Good point, for info, it's 200SEK for the oldies, 100 for the younglings (£14/7 respectively) on the Arlanda Express (return).
I shall think of you Wizzo whilst I'm sat on my luxurious X2000 train with all the leg room in the world browsing the net and zooming thru the countryside at 200km/hr :p

The Summer one has the added bonus of schnapps/bbq in the sun on the banks of the lake by the venue though... but mind those mossies! :)
Myself and Therogue will be at Dreamhack on work, But i know what hotel you are in *i prob be in there* so we will have to have afew beers.

Will I need to bring WoW with me to install onto it as I believe you don't own it yourself? Also I completed the payment for the flights this afternoon so it should appear in your account by the end of the week :)

remember all airports will only let you take one bag to airside. just one bag only. Not even a back pack and a carrier bag and/or satchel.. its one bag only. They'll also ask you to size check every bag that you dare to take through. Going business class that allows you two bags on board actually means nothing, as security over-rides it

How much you spend depends on how much you love burgers and buying t shirts etc.

Just noticed that the Dreamhack site talks about registering with them
to activate tickets:
http://web.dreamhack.se/index.php?page=tickets_howto#a184
Is this something we need to get sorted out, or has Wizzo got some
kind of special hax?
Edit: Found more info under the 'Guide to Dreamhack Ticket System' (http://tickets.dreamhack.se/) which says that once the tickets have been booked and seats selected, the tickets should be 'handed out' to people, who should then register on the site, import the ticket to their account, and then activate them.
This sound like something you had to do last time?

How do I activate my ticket?
Publicerad 24 mars av Martin "DH_admin" Öjes
If you are a group of people that purchased your tickets via one person, all tickets will be inactive, since they all have the same name on them. As long as the ticket does not have a proper owner you will not be able to see the ticket number or print the ticket.
someone needs to slap wizzhoe then :P

Hello!
We are a couple of friends from sweden who are also going to Dreamhack and have a small problem that we think you could help us with. :)
The situation looks like this:
[X][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][X][X]
(Where [X] means our seat and [Y] means your seat)
If it's not too much trouble for you we were hoping you would be able to switch the seats to look like this:
[Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][Y][X][X][X]
(Note, all of you would only have to jump one step to the left)
Sorry for the ASCII art, can't post imagelinks on this forum

Knarkoffer they will be on there way now, but i am sure that they will be ok with it, as we had the same situation at winter dreamhack. They will be staying at the scandic tonight if you are near by, or be at the event early and ask them there.
Hope this helps

Seriously , just a longer transfer time would be good.
So a coach will take 2 days of travel from the uk and then a further 2 back,
Trains go from either copenhagen or stockholm with one or two change(s) taking roughly 3 to 3.5 hours.

Methinks we need to start the thread for DH Winter asap to gauge interest :).
Was great fun, even with all the travel chaos possible!
