Anim, what are you talking about 'UK team'.
There was no uk tourney that I know about except for esl and that was a bit of joke because as far as I know we never had an entire team there.
From what I know there wont be many european teams coming due to the cost compared to prize ratio. Would be nice if the prize money was bigger :(

There was a full squad for the ESL one, and another dota-orientated league hosted one too but that was a while back. It was a mockery tbh and i rarely came across a decent UK based player when i played :/

UK team only played 1 1/2 games in the esl tourney. 1 game was a 1-1 tie with France in .32b (If you remember scourge was pretty stacked back then :)) The other one was a one-side loss to sweeden which probably has some of the best players in the world with the 2nd half forfeited by us. The other two scheduled games we forfeited. Tbh, the esl nations cup was a joke and although UK may not be the BEST nation for dota, it certainly isnt the worst and our performance in the cup doesnt reflect the skills of our nation imo.

Surely this is a big step in promoting competitive DotA in the UK?

it'll help, but a one off will do nothing. This will show that there is potential and a consecutive tournament at i31 will really help spread the word.

yeah i can't wait to see dota put in the limelight, should be good.
and if you didn't get my e-mail zero hour, yeah i can play and if you still need another player; scr3wball is probably looking for a team.
