Got to say wp to my IAC buddies that carried on to JV1V after slapping ISS around some more in C3-. Nearly 12 hours for those that stayed on!

I heard D2's titan got killed ...
Aardvark
16th February 2007, 19:24
It keeled over from the drama, yes...
Seriously, one of three things happened:
1) The pilot was a complete moron
2) There was a bug with logging
3) BoB pulled a sly trick to reset the 15min aggro timer
Given the following evidence:
(Vando): [20:10] (Farjung): He didn't disappear because he was on aggro timer, he was on aggro timer because he was aggroed very shortly before he logged off, that's about the long and short of it
(Vando): how?
(Farjung): I'm sure it'll be figured out fairly soon, but I'm not going to spoil it
I'm going with option 3.
Aardvark
16th February 2007, 20:55
Option 3 it is!
Spy in D2 tracks the titan in a cov ops. Before it logs, they decloak and hit the titan with a Micro Smartbomb for 15 damage, which doesn't show up on the graphic readout of the titans shields as the amount is too small.
2007.02.16 17:58:46 Combat Your Micro Graviton Smartbomb I hits WOTANKN [CE]<D2>(Erebus), doing 15.0 damage.
Titan pilot doesn't notice this, as he has friendlies switched off on overview and the cov ops is hidden by the sheer size of the titan. Titan pilot logs.
BoB probe the D2 titan and commence mullering. Pilot logs in again when this is discovered, but too late to save the ship.

D2 titan gets blown up and all hell breaks loose on the forums once more, i love this game

How does the D2 spy hit the titan with a microbomb if he's friendly? :|
Aardvark
17th February 2007, 21:52
By activating it? Friendly fire is ENTIRELY possible in this game :p

Ahh that would make sense seeing as Titan's can destroy their own ships during a Doomsday. How very amusing :D

Few points, you killed a titan in production, Not much any alliance can do against THAT many ships, as the lag/node crashes make it impossible.
RaGoon also use many of the cheapest tactics, logon/logoff sit for weeks in cloaked ships in systems etc.
They log if they havnt got numerically superior numbers generally. This is my experiance so far at least.
Still well done, shown that you can spam a system so much that defending side cant do anything, though id like to see that used against BOB.
Of note, BOB chewed up a goon fleet yesterday (118 kills) after it jumped into the remains of a D2 large bubble camp on the gate. Made me smile :D

By that logic, I bet you hate Bob for the whole D2 titan episode...

The whole of ts was laughing its head off, it was just after we killed 9 D2 dreads aswell so it was already pretty merry :)

It was very much case of worst timing ever, jumping goons in too late to save the dreads, but just in time to get DDed
Oh well, next time :)

Good point, Semajal's post does seem to be straight out of CAOD with the 'omg cheap tactics' angle.
For the millionth time: THEY DID NOT TRY TO CRASH THE NODE!
LV defence = 400, well set up to put the hurt on anyone jumping in.
Goons + co: 'hmm, how do we get in? I guess we use these 800 pilots, that should hopefully punch through with heavy losses'.
Node: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH IT BURNS
I don't know why people are blaming the side that a) organised a very strong assault and b) had no other realistic way to go about things. People on CAOD going 'well you could have brought fewer ships' make me laugh at their concept of how you win battles.
So Semajal, the Coalition tactics were cheap. Please enlighten everyone as to how you break through a 400 man defence force. Note that shrugging your shoulders and going home is NOT an option, some people actually want to win this war.

Surely any tactic is a valid tactic, as long as theres no hax involved.
The aim of war is to win... by any means nessecary.

This is why Large scale fleet ops do not appeal to me!

Detail cranked up to the max for pretty screenies Thrud :p It's not the framerate that gets you, its the lag...
And I agree with Hippo again, BoB tactics aren't a problem, Goon tactics aren't a problem, everyone needs to shutup and pewpew like good little boys :)

The Coalition is 'The Rapetrain'. The Rapetrain famously does not have brakes.
