I had been holding on to this system for awhile now waiting for February to arrive so per Ebay's specifications I could list this PS3 on the UK site and they canceled my auction anyway. Back in November when all the hype was in America I paid $865 for this PS3 thinking prices would rise again right before Christmas---and they would have if Sony’s release would have been as they said—no more till 2007. But they released another 400,000 units through Best Buy December 10.

Anyway, I am just wanting to sell it and get my money back—nothing more. I’m not trying to make a killing off it or anything. £440 as best I can figure would come out even.

I have been on ebay for several years now, I have 618 positives and my ebay user name is Starsnskies so you can look and see I am a good honest seller.

There are lots of advantages to having a US version, the main one being no censorship! It will not censor any of your games like the Japan and Hong Kong versions do and the UK and German one will. All games are censored according to the console you play it on! So if you like your games to have all the excitement then you will enjoy a US version. It also comes free with a plug adapter to plug into a UK power plug. All PS3’s have universal power supplies so you do not need a power change, just a plug change.

Will be sent as gift and value of $0 Us dollars so you do not have to pay extreme VAT and custom duty and taxes. I will cooperate in any way I can with you to help you not have to pay customs. You can change the language settings as soon as it starts up if you would like, it will play in English, French, and Spanish. It is a US version and comes free with a 220V-240V UK plug adapter. The power supply on all PS3's is universal so with this adapter you are ready to go.

Will be carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and packed with padding to keep it safe on it's postal journey to you. It comes with one controller but if you would like any extra controllers for I will buy as many as you like and just charge you what they cost and ship them in the same box with no extra shipping charges.

I have no idea what astroturf means (I know what real astroturf is but don't understand what you are meaning). But if you are implying I'm some how dishonest check out my ebay user id. I'm not a gamer, I just want to get rid of a game console that I spent too much money on. I was up front with the reason why too.

Astroturf is fake 'grass roots' etc etc.. They are not trying to hide anything like 'HEY I HEARD NGAGE WAS AWESOME WHERE CAN I BUY ONE?', they are simply saying 'my ps3 is on ebay'.

Astroturf is the phrase used around these parts to describe underhand sneaky advertising (" hey have you heard about the new sega-sony ohmygoderth0n 9000 " sort of threads aimed (usually badly) at subtly drawing attention to a product) ...so infact they are all wrong...this isnt astroturf.

However people have the right to be sceptical over a high priced transaction with some one with no credit in this community who lives half a world away.

+ Unless some one was interested enough in this deal to contact you via your quoted ebay account, quoting a ebay user id doesnt provide any guarantee as to you are who you say you are.

Dont feel victimised by this however, ever since a number of people got stung on these boards (by a then well known member of the community) any newbie has been probed with suspision.

TBH I dont think your going to get a sale.
Just had a quick look on play and for £30 more you can preorder a 60gb ps3 with 3 games and a hdmi cable.
As the release date over here is in just over a week I know I'd wait if only for the peace of mind incase anything went wrong with it or there was a recall

i agree Gemini, the first post is from an amerian selling a ps3 on a UK forum (so thats a ****load of shipping and customs costs) - let me guess, you want me to send the money to your friend in Nigeria, as he's sick and needs it for an operation?

Our forums are not a world wide personal ads page, and shouldnt be treated as much, and i'd like to see some way to stop new posters having access to the trade forum until they have made enough posts (like on the bit-tech forums).

possibly, not really looked into it to be honest. Also unless they're actually licensing the PS3s out instead of selling you them wouldnt this be hard to enforce legally?

To be fair if hes telling the truth the fact that its region free could be attractive so something. (edit he also says that they all are so nm that, counters the "omg you have to import games" argument though.)
