I can only get Restart and Next to work. Kick and the others only say that I have become admin and then left admin and do nothing.

Exactly the same problem for me - http://forums.multiplay.co.uk/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=47579

Set up and heres my results.

list - working
kick - working
switch - working
restart - working
next - working
ban - working
map - not working - says map not allowed on a ranked server
warn - not quite - only works on player 0 , other numbers it doesnt work

Ive set up our admins with all. I havent tried individual k b etc. So I cant confirm whether that works. We dont have a need for multi levels so I probably wont get around to testing it. Perhaps thats why some of you guys are having mixed results. Have a play around with the settings a bit.

Fantastic job multiplay chaps.

Enjoy.

Just a bit confused by you post there carty..

You say !kick, !ban work but then go on to say you haven't tried "individual !k !b etc"

If you haven't tried them then how do you know the commands work?

K
9th February 2007, 22:18
map - not working - says map not allowed on a ranked server
That will be you choosing a map thats not a standard map?

warn: you can use the names you know

All commands work for me. For reference, I am logging in to RCON in the console when I join the game using "RCON LOGIN <rcon password>".

Don't know if that's necessary anyway, but it's working for me.

m4r5h
10th February 2007, 00:15
yeh i do aswell but still the same problem

carty
10th February 2007, 03:42
Dont log in to use rcon. The commands themselves do this for you. This is why you see the message xxx became a system administrator and then xxx stopped being an administrator. It logs you in , does the command , then logs you out.

K, i did !map 1 , !map gibraltar !map camp_gibraltar etc, all same result. Ill double check tonight.

Regarding the confusion Griff. I did the commands !kick !ban etc. When i referred to not using k and b i meant for permisions in the modmanagercon. ie ive used the permission all as opposed to k,b for example.

I havent tried to do !k in game i didnt realise that worked. I thought you had to say !kick. Will try that tonight.

!warn definately only works for player 0. I have double checked this.

As it stands right now its pretty much what was required. This has made my guys and myself happy campers :D

carty
10th February 2007, 03:50
Just thinking some more.

For kick and ban you must have the right format.

Assuming the player you want to deal with is player number 4

!kick 4 "Padder"

!ban 4 perm "Hacking"

Hope that makes sense.

K
10th February 2007, 11:07
If you have a look in the modmanager.log file are their any errors this will help find any issue.

K
10th February 2007, 11:10
FYI: kick, ban and warn all use multi format <player> which can be either playerid or player name

m4r5h
10th February 2007, 12:26
ok i got all the commands working now, but it still comes us sayin I became a SA and i gave up SA

Any ideas?

It's suposed to do that.

.Griff.
10th February 2007, 16:56
!list is working for me now and I can successfully kick people using the !k 2 (or other player numbers) command.

What is the exact format I need to enter to kick and/or warn people with reasons?

carty
10th February 2007, 20:14
!k 2 "reason"
!b 2 perm "reason"
!w 2 "reason"

I have tried just !k instead of !kick and yeah it does work :D

On testing kick and ban tho with the above formats the player doesnt get a reason come up. However in clanforge you do see the ban reason if you follow the format above.

carty
10th February 2007, 20:18
My turn to ask now. Anyone else getting the issue were warn works for player 0 only, and anyone got map working cos i cannae. Ta

.Griff.
10th February 2007, 20:20
So you actually include the quotation marks or are they just there as part of your example?

Wilde
10th February 2007, 21:30
Also where are you getting the player numbers from? Tried it with there names and I can't make it work.

.Griff.
10th February 2007, 22:16
Also where are you getting the player numbers from? Tried it with there names and I can't make it work.

Use the !list command then open your console and the names/player numbers appear.

carty
10th February 2007, 23:55
An easier way to get the player numbers is to click on manage on the player list. This shows you the same numebrs as in list.

Yes you put the quotation marks as i typed them.

Can you confirm though, that logging into RCON is not a problem?

I'd prefer to log in when I join the server, and issue commands as needed. That way, the already cluttered (and badly designed) screen layout doesn't get messed up with the admin became/stopped being an administrator messages. I'd prefer warnings, kick notices etc were seen by the intended recipients, and not missed due to a plethora of incidental messages.

Thanks for your work on this though! Very much appreciated by us all methinks.

carty
11th February 2007, 17:15
I can confirm that logging into rcon IS a problem.

When I was getting one of my guys to test he was already logged in and the commands did not work. He logged out and tried again and they did then work. So do not be logged into rcon to use these methods. You really dont need to be logged into rcon for any reason now in my opinion.

Only thing I can think of to stop the messages appearing would be to disble the admin notification. As I stated earlier these commands log you in so they can be run. The server just simply announces this fact. Now im not sure if you can disable the message via another setting. My guess is you probably can. Ill have a mosy around. If anyone else knows this then feel free to let us know.

Carty.

carty
11th February 2007, 17:25
mm_rcon.loginMessage "%s became a server administrator"
mm_rcon.logoutMessage "%s gave up administrator rights"

These are the 2 entries for the messages. I cant find a message on or off type variable so perhaps making these null might help. It might just print your name twice though! Seems to me you could have some fun with it however. xxx became God for example :D

My server is currently populated so I cant restart to test this presently. Ill have a go when its empty.

Just to reply to Carty's post above, yup - warn only works for player 0 for some reason.

K
18th February 2007, 11:40
please check your modmanager.log file for errors after using warn for another player as Im unable to reproduce ur problem.

That's just two examples I cam across and in both circumstances no warning was displayed ingame.

K
18th February 2007, 13:49
That shows that the kick / warnings are working fine. If your expecting to see the warnings given to other players you wont as they are sent to the player only.

.Griff.
18th February 2007, 13:52
The first player kicked with the tongue in cheek reason "loser" was me and I certainly didn't see any reason given at all.

The second warning was issued by me to a fellow clan member and he didn't see any warning/text either.

Rest assured we have tried this with up to 6 admins on the server sending each other warnings and kicking each other with reasons. It simply doesn't work as indicated by other people commenting in this thread.

K
18th February 2007, 13:55
Sounds like EA / Dice have broken player messaging again then :(

carty
18th February 2007, 15:16
tested !map again

format that works is !map camp_gibraltar or !map cerbere_landing

basically you must put the whole name and replace the space with _ as above

so verdun is easy :D

cant find any other way that works , like the number for example but I dont see that as a big problem.

K
18th February 2007, 15:19
Thats correct those are the actual names of the maps

Is this only for 2142 of for BF2 aswell ?

K
16th April 2007, 22:34
Not unless you havent restarted since it was updated ages ago. Turned out player say to any player other than player 0 is broken so although it was doing exactly as asked BF2142 was ignoring it. I reverted MM to use say all a long while back which fixed this.

jonskibtc
17th April 2007, 10:14
Using the same server ( BF2 ) as Ram2000 above , if I do " say all !warn [BTC]Ram2000 muppetry " the msg on the server just says "[Admin] warn" , it doesn't say who the warning is to or the reason . Am I doing it wrong ? , not that I'd be surprised :o .

K
17th April 2007, 18:58
I've just tested this and it works correctly from the command you did you should have seen:
[Admin] muppetry

If you want the players name or anything specfic in the message you nee to include that e.g.
!warn [BTC]Ram2000 Stop doing that [BTC]Ram2000!

jonskibtc
17th April 2007, 21:45
Thats where I was going wrong , not including the name in the reason msg

thanks for that .

That will be a because thats not your player name in game.

If your using a clan tag thats also part of your in game nick so you will need to include that as well.

As said many times you need to quote names with spaces:
!k "=Uzi= KingMaDDoG" test

hi there

im getting a problem where ive entered all nessary details correct but im getting it saying i logged in and out of adminsitarton,

also this error occurs Error: player cobra not found

K
7th June 2007, 18:10
The problem is just what the error says, there was no such player on the server. Ensure you have typed in the EXACT player name, if this includes spaces ensure you quote the name e.g.
!w "CLAN bobby" Stop that bobby!

Hatter

can someone explain to me how the switch command works?

i thought it was just !switch <playername>

but wen i do tht, in the console it says error - invalid switch mode

any suggestions?

K
28th June 2007, 16:47
That should only happen if you have a player name with spaces in and you dont quote the player name.

Hatter
28th June 2007, 17:41
i always quote the name, and it did nothing wen i tried using the !list command and replacing the name with the number, ill get another admin to double check im not being a fool but any suggestions in the mean time would be great
