OK gents, how many Magic players do we have this year?
After several reasonably successful Pre Release events this weekend, I've managed to acquire us 29 Planar Chaos boosters - should be plenty for a good few TS/TS/PC drafts :)
Just wondering what other draft pods people might want bringing, and what sort of pod size we'll be looking at?

I'll prolly be in for a few games, assuming I don't break my magic playing hand doing something silly

Is every one bringing their laptops to play WOW in the evening too.....
Or is any one actually going to socialise normally?

Do we have many WoW players? I might be up for a few random games of Worms or something, but I'd rather stick to sociable games :)
I do understand though, if people would suffer withdrawal symptoms, better to get your fix in the evening than spend the day shivering and obsessing on the slopes ;p

If I see any WoW being played, heads will roll.
In my book WoW is worse than pokemon. :madgo:

Laptop is coming, but more due to having to do work from out there than anything else. Up for trying to learn magic again though... and there better be some damn Siedler! :)

Ahaha. I played the 10 day free trial of WoW, just to shut the people up that said "Have you even PLAYED it?!" when I moaned about it. I was bored stiff!
I'm sure if I understood remotely waht Magic was about, it could be interesting, but it seems to be "He who has the most money, owns."
Laptop? Yeah, I think so. Will save me annoying Ming to borrow his. I think it's covered under "Personal effects" on my travel insurance. UT2k4? Quake 3? ¬_¬

The whole "He who has the most money" thing only applies in serious competition in the constructed (Pre-built decks) game. We will be playing draft games, where everyone is on a level playing field and sees the same cards.
If we do play constructed I can loan plenty of fun decks to people. I'll bring beginner suitable ones too.
Russ - suggest TSTSPC, 9th ed. and maybe one set of something old. Odyssey block?

UT2k4? Quake 3? ¬_¬
UT2K4 is already install on my laptop, purely for SP Alien Swarm.
Quake 3, I'll do when I get home. :icon15:

there better be some damn Siedler! :)Please let there be Siedler. Who has it? If no-one has it there is a slim chance I could buy one on Friday, not sure if I'll get time or not.

but it seems to be "He who has the most money, owns." Only marginally true - in order to compete on the "serious" level (trying to get free trips abroad, win money etc.) you do need access to a large card pool for many of the tournaments - So you either need a large card collection (like me) or need to know someone who is willing to loan you the cards (like some of my friends) you need... For example I have an arrangement with a very strong local player who only plays occasionally these days that I loan him the deck he wants to play, and he gives me any booster packs he wins if he does well - so he plays the game for next to nothing at a pretty high level, and I get a few boosters sometimes for a small inconvenience :)
As Ryvita said though, we will be "drafting" which is where the group opens three packs at random and picks the cards they want to play with, so having more or less money doesn't matter, everyone pays the same and has the same chance to get good cards. HOWEVER Draft is a very skill intensive format (there are a variety of formats to play) so with this in mind I will be bringing with me at least 2 "beginners" decks - of a similar power level and full of cards that assist teaching people how to play.
If anyone (like Wizzo) wants to learn (or anyone who has played a bit wants some "tuition" for improving their play) I'll be more than happy to take some people through it :)
