View Full Version : Disk is unreadable.

I got my Xbox 360 for Christmas a month ago and with it I got PGR3. After playing it for about 1-2 weeks I got to a race and it took ages to load and I could hear the disk stop spinning. An error message then came up saying 'Your disk is unreadable. Please clean it with a soft cloth and reboot your console.' After taking the disk out I looked at the bottom of it and noticed there was one very noticable scrath on it and about 3-4 other small scrathes.

I got Oblivion 3 days ago and have been playing quite a bit recently and this afternoon the same error message appeared when I tried going through a doorway ingame. I removed the disk and cleaned it but this time there were no scratches that I could see on it.

The scratches weren't me or my brother since we are very careful with the disks. We haven't moved the console while the disks were in them, even when the console was off and the Xbox hasn't moved from it's position except from installation.

I'm confused and annoyed and was wondering if anyone else experienced these same problems or has any advice.

Thank you

That does sound excessive. If you can, I would take it back to the shop it was bought from and get a replacement. (sooner rather than later, so you don't have to go through Microsoft direct)

I remember when the 360 first came out you could easily damage disks by changing the incline of the unit.

Its unlikely to be the cause as you said you have been careful, but it might be worth making sure that people are not moving the console when it's on (for whatever reason).

Yea I have been looking on the net and have seen many others who have had the same problem.

Yea I have seen a video of the damage the 360 does to a disk when the angle of the machine is changed while on... I'm pretty sure this isn't the case but I'll ask around my family.

I got the package from Play (http://play.com) so I will get in contact with them.
