MH4843 ;)
It is very typical of the server lag we used to get on our dedicated server :(

reboot the hole box ?
what else is on it ?
probably in a virtual machine, between 2 or 3 servers #?
it reports cpu usage as around 90% with 42 players in it .....is that then 90% of 1/3 of a single core cpu ??

Crashes are normal any busy server will crash once or more per day from what I have seen.

Doesnt seem to be the case with some other hosts atm, although they obviously do crash, they almost certainly crash less, based on the logs I have been shown. :(

Multiplay don't partition their boxes like that, not virtual pcs. 90% of a third of a single core is certainly not correct. For a 42 slot server I'd say almost certainly you have an entire core to yourself. Boxes aren't overloaded. Note I don't work for MPUK, I just have a lot of experience of what they do to ensure performance.

Crashes this evening will be down to the major European network issue ATM meaning that the servers are loosing connection to the master and hence crashing ( yes the server design has this feature! ).

ummm you think ?
there are a min of 3 bf2142 servers and one bf2 server running on the box were on at the min .....mebe its one of those new quod core cpu,s ......no cant be we had this server before they were released :as-spin:
4 servers on one box witch as far as we can make out is a 2.4 ghz intell single core runnign windows ......looks over its limits at peek playing times to me no ?
even if its duel core that would be 2.4ghz / 2x42 players then put both servers in titan mode ......what you got .....over loaded
but then there is the ram..... say its duel core 4 servers running on it recomended ram for a 42 player server is 2 gig ish ........they got 8 gig of ram in the server box ? what chip set is it running
there is more to in game lag then cpu time
we would have thort 2 servers max if there running titan mode ....we have no idea not getting any feed back on this just told "its ok" witch it isnt we know this we play in it every night
doing our head in !

There's actually 2 AMD Opteron CPUs in this particular machine. Don't guess your specs. :)
The box hasn't been above 70% overall CPU utilisation in weeks and even then it wasn't by much and only for a short period.
If you have performance issues please do raise a support ticket and please do include as much information as possible. Multiple international transit providers (ISPs) have had issues with their networks over the last few days (/ weeks?) - also not helped by the EA master servers themselves having reachability issues (which will cause all BF2142 servers to crash).
Once again - if you have continued issues and would like them investigating - raise a ticket here (http://support.multiplay.co.uk).
Thanks. :)

""Don't guess your specs."" i had to no one was telling us any thing .....we have a ticket on this "in game lag " there thinking its a network thing but not getting mutch feed back on it (ticket staus closed o_0 )
we agree with the EA main server thing (bad idea imo to have the server,s so dependent on the main server EA,s fault )
we still wonder about the other spec of the server box and its ability to run 4 server between 2 cpu,s ?? :)
This is a big problem for us as its taking the fun out of the game judding around the map

If a ticket is at status closed its because we think the issue has been responded to. This could be just waiting for feedback from yourselves or that some measures have been taken and you've not responded saying that said measures haven't worked. Either way sounds like you need to update the ticket.

well the end to this story is .....
we,v had it ......server crashing every day aleast once a day most times more allways when under load aka when were playing on it allmost constant lag like feel to the server yet multi plays stance is that its fine .......we,v spoke to other server owners who have servers by differnt companys and they say there servers avg 1 crash a week not 2 a day that and your being under cut price wise big time by alot of them .......wouldnt mind if the product lived up to the hype but poor preformance and hi prices we wont be renewing our server with multiplay
sry this hasnt worked out cant fault live serport bye

Crashes are highly dependent on the size a popularity of the server. This is constant across all providers ( we do talk to each other you know :P ). The current average on 1.10 servers is 0.3 crashes per server per day but as I said larger more popular servers do crash more there is nothing Multiplay or any other provider can do about this :(
