Hey all
i got the Component Cable, found a bit of an annoying problem with using VC games with that cable...well basicly if you want to play them you HAVE to use the RGB cable as when you go to run any VC games, it comes up on my screen mode not supported :(
So if you want to play the VC games you will have to swap to the RGB, which i think is abit annoying :(

Component cables do allow you to run Virtual Console games. Its possible it won't work for you because of the television mode your Wii is set to. I've read reports that the Virtual Console titles are being sent out exactly as they were originally made, meaning modern HDTVs and PAL users may run into difficulties. Back in the day, NTSC titles were made that run at 60Hz. When it came to making them for PAL at 50Hz and a larger screen resolution, they would simply add black borders to fill the space and a chip in the European hardware would slow the game down. This apparently is still a feature in the Virtual Console games Nintendo are giving out via the Wii. It sounds bad but you have to remember that this will have been present when you played the original game on a European games console. That means the games will play exactly as you remember them. They'd be different if they weren't PAL and I'm not sure I'd like that.
If I was you, I'd check your TV settings in the Wii setup. Try switching between PAL and NTSC resolutions, and try changing the aspect ratio as well, just to see if you can get anything to work. Component cables *do* work with the VC games if online opinions are anything to go by. Lots of people happy with how much crisper their VC titles look.
