Just looking around and found one retailer who states that no more Wii Stock until Feb, is this just them or is it expected across the board?

I think we'll definately see more by February. I wouldn't trust this retailer as a good guideline as when to expect more Wii's. They seem to be a small outfit in Spain. You best bet is to look at the bigger stores in the UK and ask them.

most places i asked suggested the 7th of Jan as a big wii day (argos, blockbuster woolworths etc.)

There's been a fair few deliveries since the initial launch (gamestation in Liverpool had 30 delivered yesterday for instance) so don't believe the expected dates.
There's not an actual shortage of Wii's (like there was with the ps3 due to component shortages) they are just unable to physically move them fast enough to meet with demand, so there should be a constant stream of them appearing in stores.

the chances of me getting one fore chrimbo is not looking good, ive been in my town centre yesterday to Argos, GAME, HMV, Comet, Currys, Gamestation, and Somewhere called MusicZone and they have all been sold out seems to been like that since launch day, and no one seems to be able to say when expected stock is due back in.

Though this very second I have just rung GAME and he said he is hoping for some in stock this afternoon and delivery time is expected between 11 and 12... so in 45 mins ish guess I am going AFK :P

They seem to be going for around £300 on ebay now. So a lot lower than last week.

Yeah but that stock coming in this afternoon would be allocated to the next load of people in the pre-order queue.

Unless of course you ARE in the pre-order queue still?

They are getting harder to get hold of. Picked up 4 yesterday after looking around for a week to get them. 2 for me and 2 for the boss at work (Brownie points ahoy :D).

My contact who got me mine had a delivery of 39 yesterday and was possibly expecting 50 more today. It isnt that they dont exist. Its that the stores cant get them fast enough. If you want one keep trying. Store like Tescos etc dont do preorder so they will be a good place to go asking for info if you are willing to queue up for one.

They did have stock .... 6 of them ... and I would have been at least number 30 in the queue so didn't even bother :D

Popped into Argos typed in the code no stock in the store or the warehouse :`(

No point trying our Tescos they don't sell Hardware. Just have to wait until after xmas U suppose.

The ppl who are killing stock are the greedy bastards who aint interested in the console but who have seen the selling potential on ebay and are in for a quick buck. If ebay made it that certain items could't be sold with like 1 month of release dates then I reckon there would have been more than enough for those that actually wanted one.

Actually there just are not enough of them available in stores. The majority of consoles sold are going to people who want them to use them. I know it took me all of 5 mins to have it hooked up and playing when i got in last night. Whilst I bought a second one I am still undecided what to do with it. It might join the <1% sold and find its way to ebay. Or it might be sent to friends in europe who are having an even harder time getting hold of them than people in the UK are.

I see nothing wrong with purchasing something to put it on ebay btw. It is a capitalist country and that is capitalism at its best. Morally it may be wrong. But cant always listen to morals if you want to make the best of a situation. People will not stop selling on ebay. There is no law against selling newly launched products so why not join them? Given the chance im sure you would probably do it too. Might say you wouldnt but give it some thought and I bet a 100% profit margin would appeal.

btw i wouldnt be asking huge amounts on ebay. starting bid of retail is all it would be. its up to the buyer to decide at that point.

While a 100% markup is appealing, im not interested. I have to agree with jez if the ebayers wern't there im sure there would be enough for the people that accually want one.

Greed is a deadly sin :angryfire

how many consoles sold in the UK? how many ebay auctions? how many people still without a console?

The numbers dont add up. Whilst some people would get their consoles if ebay sales were banned it dosnt mean everyone would. There have simply not been enough in shops yet.

Well you will find that if you go to a Tesco Superstore or sometimes a Tesco Metro in the Games section there will be a DVD case on the shelf saying 'Take this to Customer Services' or something as if they put console boxes on the shelf (especially the Xbox360 one) they would take up too much room.

When they say 4million units shipped world-wide by December 31st that does not mean 4million units will have been sold that 4million sold mark probably won't be made until the first or second week of January after those last units make it to their destination and probably accounts for a good 500k of units in those two weeks alone.

True but Jez is right as well, some Tesco stores (the smaller ones) don't carry any hardware, just software. Fortunately our Tesco is massive and has a 1st floor dedicated to electronics and clothes.

Our Tesco's isnt a super store, not a tesco extra or anything. I does sell a few dvds/music and sometimes a value toaster or kettle but I've never known it sell consoles.

Just been on Tesco's website couldnt see any mentioned of Wiis on there yet they do mention xbox360s and playstation3s
