North America however seem to be doing ok... maybe I'll consider passing on this year and saving up for the states next year ;)

Are those of you who are paid up worried at all?

I'm concerned cause I'm going to Switzerland next week and it looks like its crowded glaciers for all.

To be honest ski conditions are usually pretty bad around Christmas anyway, I expect they'll have improved significantly by late Jan.

We're still 6 weeks out, but the 10 day forecast still looks bad, with sunshine, >0 degree peaks and no rain forecast.

My dads in france atm, got there yesterday. Theres no snow where he is (Bernex). Highest there is 1900m with only a little snow.

On the contruary, when he went there in the summer, whilst driving around a mountain he went through a blizzard... in august...

Looking at the amount of used alcohol on Saturday morning on StratLAN, so are most of us.

A report from the alps, I've been up in the 4 Valleys this week, Verbier, Veysonnaz and Nendaz there is snow, to the point of being able to ride right back into town in a couple of places, but it is thin, ridable in the morning quickly turning very icy once the sun goes down.

Temperatures are cold tho, below zero right into the valley just no snow!

Just got back from Val D'Isere which has a 1850m base camp. Snow was ok at the start of the week, but seeing as there has been no big dump since 8th December conditions were a bit icy, and a lot of the runs were closed off near the end of the week (not that it stopped us :) )
Tignes, around 2100m and the peak of ~3000m are also very icy, but still skiable for the time being.

Ah yes, came home yesterday. The night before, it managed a worthy 8" to ski on from our front door.
Other than that, the 2 days at Avoiriasiasiasiisaisa(*aahem)... was nice. ;)

Very little snow expected over the next week, though.

That site's really confusing - what're the conditions like now?
And how on earth do you pronounce Les Menuires, anyway?
Stupid foreign languages... ¬_¬

Well Afty has a genius plan that will get everyone flying to Chambery on the same transfer, so I'm just keeping the faith here (while getting a tad worried I must admit).

Might wanna think about driving again if it gets too late ;p

Afty
14th January 2007, 22:41
Yeah Aard, we need to book the flights from Leeds Bradford, which time about right to match those of the Brum contingent. Fairly cheap too - phone me tomorrow night and we'll book at the same time.

You drive to mine and I'll drive us to the airport - parking is £40 for the week.
