Hey all,
Just wondering if there's a nice simple one click solution to playing avis on my 360 from my server.
You read things like:
"Stream WMV video from a Windows PC running Windows Media Player 11, Zune software, or Windows Media Connect."
.. which implies that something is possible, but I want the no-hassle solution.
Is there one?

If you are streaming WMV it's really easy, add them to media player 11, leave it running and connect it to your xbox.
Avi's/Divx/other you need a program called transcode360, trouble is that program only works with windows media centre or vista. Grab that here (http://www.runtime360.com/)
Good luck :)

Update... YES, there is a way to do this... The program you need is called TVserity and is available for FREE from the website. (http://www.tversity.com/)
I've tried it, it really works, just add your files to TVSerity list of media and it will zap the file to your xbox for playback. It appears to support a wide ranging video formats (realmedia /quicktime / etc/etc) with transcoding on the fly :)

I use both TVersity (lets you set the videos to stream at full HD resolutions where transcode360 down samples them in the process) to play vids and music from the quick media player and transcode360 is running too as i have media center for when I want to play content from media center as you cant browse folders in the standard xbox video/music player it makes finding a file hard if you have thousands of em :P
Both work great.
