Yeah the PS3 doesn't upscale PS1 or PS2 games. Worse than that, every time you want to play one of your PS1/2 games, you have to manually change your television settings to make the aspect ratio look right. The PS3 doesn't handle anything like that for you.

Worse than all of the above, it doesn't upscale the new PS3 titles either. If you buy a title for the PS3 that was written for 720p, but your screen only supports 480i, 480p and 1080i (common on older and recent-ish models I'm told), then guess what...it downscales to 480p instead of upscaling to 1080i! Congratulations, you've paid +stupid amounts of money for Wii resolution graphics! Also, the Xbox 360 will upscale to 1080i in this scenario just like with backwards compatibility, so nicely done Microsoft.

That REALLY sucks chode, i love the ps2 but nothing on this earth would make me buy a ps2.
Oh and that video, watching ffx on the ps3 was like watching a cam of a game :S

Dont expect the upscailing problems to last forever on the ps3 so no point worrying.

The only ps1 games that are having problems are the likes of ff and a gt.. and tbh if you buy a ps3 to play ps1 games THAT bad you have way more money than sence. You can pick up a working ps1 for £5

Come on people..... every console has problems at first. fact. doesn't means its going to suck for its whole life does it. PS2s were failing like mad and dvd drives breaking faster than anything at the start of the ps2 generation, people bitched and moaned then but hey look where the ps2 is now. #1 selling console in the world.

As i see it ps3 is pretty well off... no MAJOR problems (remember the thousands of overheating ****ed 360's that were produced for 1 year that had to be replaced?).

still, enjoy £400 for the console, and £60+ for the games, which look identical to xb360!

Alot of people depend on the backwards compat of PS3 to save them space. Especially when you look at the size of the thing. Alot of people really dont want to deal with the fuss of having to switch over wires or leave their old consoles out for when they want to play backwards compat games.

So to say it isn't a problem isn't really true. Even more so with the fact you have to buy the PS2 memory card reader for the PS3 to load and save games, people are having to spend extra money to use a feature thats far worse then their original product. So do people have a right to bitch about it? Hell yeah.

@Baz Lol.. right. i dont really support any company.. i don't own shares in them and have no ties to them so i couldn't really give a toss at the end of the day. I just play games.

@greydeath Yeah it is a nuisance and my "its not a problem" statement is wrong. I just mean.. is it THAT much of a problem yet seeing as the console has only been out for a month and with terrible numbers of consoles out do we know the full extent of this nuisance yet?

@Hg the console sales totals really don't mean much until they are all say a year down the line and the company's can actually produce some consoles. Im sure wii and ps3 would of sold WAY MORE consoles if you could just go into the store and pick one up. But we can see the wii is in the lead for the ps3 and wii launches but once again that's only because Nintendo can produce the consoles faster than sony.

Anyway these are my veiws. I think people think i have some bias to sony but i try not to look that way.. anyway i don't even have a ps3 yet!!. I do have a 360 and a wii though and i like to think i treat my views of them all fairly.
I am just bored of people bashing everything to do with consoles its a little lame.

Every console has problems!. Its like all that matters any more is how many problems a console has and that's sad :(
