Can anyone suggest a way for me to connect my surround sound speakers to my 360.

1) The 360 is currently connected via componant to my TV.

2) I currently have these speakers (currently connected to my PC)

3) The speaker system connects to my PCs sound card with 3 mini jack connectors (yellow, green and black)

4) Theres no optical input on the speaker system or my sound card (Xfi).

Whats the best way to connect these to my 360 instead? I've seen this:

Seems to give the system an optical input and swtiches it out to the 3 mini jack connectors that my system uses.

Any ideas?

With component cables thats pretty much your only option.

It would defy logic for companies to make a component to phono jack so you could just go plug it straight into the sound card.

But honestly if your TVs got component connection your sound cant be all that bad. Your only other option is a good quality home surround system, for TV/DVD.

It has componant cables, but the 360 also has optical out. Sound on the TV is good, but as I have surround sound on the PC I was hoping I could use it on the TV/360 as well. If not I guess I'll just sell them and buy a new surround system for the tellevizzle

I would just recommend you buy the decoder, I've seen it around for about £90. What you would get off a sane person for the speakers and/or card wouldnt get you a TV surround system of the same quality IMO.

Have an X-Fi card myself it is a pretty damn fine piece of audio hardware with alot of nice features and extras. Of course the only downside I can think of with the decoder is you would have to leave the PC on when in use.

red/white phono out cables from the xbox > red/white to 3 mini jack converter that you should have got with the speakers. To get audio with the componant cables you have to plug the red/white from the red/white/yellow set into the TV too. if you have the little phono > 3x (green black pink) converter, all is good.

thats how i hook my logitechs up, as they dont have optical either. You could allways use a red/white > 1x mini jack and go in through your soundcards mic/line in port, that works fine aswell, plus if you have an x-fi or anything decent you can fiddle with the various settings too.

These options probably dont give you 'true' surround sound, but it'll get your speakers hooked up and working with minimal effort and expense :)
