I think a huge numatic drill would have been more devastating.

its that massive heat sink it has sat over the mainboard makes it so well protected.
What they needed to do was flip over the console on its back and hit its weak spot for massive damage.

That's what the PS3's did at the Tokyo Game Show in late September. Sony claimed it was hot in the kiosks and that overheating wouldn't affect customers at home. Interestingly that announcement caused their share price to fall by around 3%. :p:

How many times are you going to smash your console to bits?
All that extra armour plating comes at a cost.

obviously Sony invisege alot of their customers will become so frustrated they are going to smash their consoles with a massive mallet.
Nintendo on the other hand dont think its going to happen all that much and didnt bother to reinforce

Well at least £100 of your shiey new console is going to go into structual armour reenforcement just incase you decide to smack it one with a 50lb mallet.

It's 5kg of metal packed tightly together though, metal doesn't really break into little pieces under a hammer.

Your gonna need that structural strength when the ole red light shows up.
