Downloaded the demo on the 360 yesterday. I guess I've spent too long playing the reality of PGR3, but it felt so unbelievably... Wrong.
The racing is overly dominated by the neon and speed blur effect to the detriment of any attempt at physics. And drifting is just plain wierd. Why was my 4wd Evo only spinning it's rear wheels? Why was it behaving like there was a castor in the middle of the car that it was pivotting around?
Just wrong.

you just described UG and UG2......
dont like motion blur? turn the damn thing off?
The drifting, as i've said in other threads, is almost exactly the same as ridge racer (eg easy as pie, dont counter steer etc) the reason it feels like the car turns in the middle is the crappy far back, and locked chase camera, the car turns, the camera stays relatively still so you have a car at an angle but camea going straight forward untill the car actually starts turning around the track, use the close chase camera its better :P
and how the hell can physics be moaned about in an ARCADE racer? the muscle cars go fast in a straight line and are a pain in corners, exotics are bloody nippy handle well and under/oversteer in various conitions, the tuners are slow without mods, if anything the cars feel like they have more weight than in Most wanted, especially the muscle cars. You can always go play GTR2 or Toca if you want 'physics' that make the cars feel like the float 5" above the track.
Anyway the games fun for me to fart around with for an hour or so at a time, but then again maybe im just not pro enough to care about its short comings a whine about it, meh :P

Ah yes, but your forgetting UG2 actually had a half decent physics engine, as described by gunny in another thread.
It got the balance of arcade and sim just right to produce an easy to pick up game, and a bitch to master.
Now its just press go and steer.

carbon is very short, i'm about 80% through it atm, the car cars feel heavy to drive and steer, its managed to grow on me since tier 2 cars, overall tho its not that great, playable but easily forgotten.

The parts i love is the war race when there is about 10 cars racing and after you have beaten the boss you get to race them down the cliff face which is class also reminds me of tokyo drift thats probably why i like it

Dude, you need physics to make the game. Sim games have sim physics, arcade games should have arcade physics. Look at why PGR3 is just so damn fun. It's an arcade game but it has a decent arcade physics engine to it :D

Ive played it for 2 nights and a bit this morning and up on 92%
I must say i am enjoying it a LOT.
I like the concept of the whole game, alas it would be awesome if it were longer, but such is life ! :D
