So for all of those that have played it want to you think? I have had it since Monday, and if you liked number 1 you should like this one. For those of you that have been eagily awaiting this game you maybe slightly dissapointed, everyone has built up some very high expectations of the game, though the gfx are excellant and some of the spell effects are very "woah" you do play it and think surely they could have done this a bit better. Anyone new the game should like it, just think of it as wow but with much more envolved and immaginative character builds. I think to fully enjoy this game you need to find a few good multiplayer server with a mod created by some experienced builders.

Just need all my team now to get into gear creating a pvp server, shame some aint got the game yet so can't progress the mods

I am undecided. It arrived today and Ive played it for a couple of hours.
Overall I think Im actually disapointed. I loved the first game, but since playing Oblivion, Im finding it had to go back to such a controlled viewing perspective, and the small zones.

I've been playing Gothic 3 recently. Its definitely a poorer cousin to Oblivion, buggy as hell, but even through its many MANY irritating faults, I think I prefer it over NWN2!

Anyone else played Gothic 3?

I felt the same way Squire, not so much with Oblivion, but NWN2 is definatly different to NWN1. The trick I have found is that actually spending time with the game it gets better. The immersive engaging gameplay, rpg and story telling are all still there.

I'm actually starting to find this latest incantation of the game better than the first. What with the fan made mods arriving I'm sure it can only get better as it progresses.

The only real thing that I feel lets the game down is that the character design is all rather boring and plain. Having said that though, you are a regular person before you metoric rise to super herodom.

I'm looking forward to playing some more. Hard to get used to pausing the game for combat to set all your attacks and strategies in order though.

Dont get me wrong, Im definitely going to keep playing it, and I expect it to be far more story driven than Oblivion/Gothic3. The problem Im having is that I've been spoiled by these two games. The worlds are massive, highly immersive and much more real world like, not to mention graphically stunning. I feel much more like the character wandering round the world, exploring the areas and completing quests. With NWN2 I dont have that freedom of exploration, I feel much more detached from my characters and despite its quite obvious graphical improvements, I still feel like Im playing a 4 year old game.

Too true. The visual elements are a bit lacking from other games, especially as I have to run the game with all the shadows off. I think the main reason why the game world is the way that it is, is that its tied into the Dev Tools. They need to be easy for people to use, so it isn't overly complicated.

I'd have to agree about the personal involvement though, you don't really feel like your character, perhaps thats just more part of the D&D style. After all I think NWN2 being stricter to the D&D rules, perhaps doesn't have the freedom of Oblivion or Gothic 3. As an aside, I'm hoping to get to play Gothic 3 soon, so will see how it plays.

okay..... I've given NWN2 another run, and I think Im going to change my mind. It is growing on me. I think I just needed to get back into the mode of its style of play. There have even been a few things about it I've been reasonably impressed with! For instance.... I created a dwarf character and have picked up a second dwarf team mate.... since then there have been a number of voiced sequences in which the fact that we are TWO dwarves has been mentioned. VOICED! Not hard to do exactly, but with the number of character racial permutations, you have to wonder just how many variations on the same voice clip were recorded.

So far its very small, i completed most of it within 2 days of decent game time and now im just waiting for some mods for some proper multiplaye gaming with it, but as with the first one i think it's gonna be hard to find a decent server like on in NWN1, i hate the Camera style of NWN2 and find alot of the dialog to be abit pointless, how you deal with your class is all the same aswell.. rather disapointed and no doubt will have to buy more expansion packs like the first game that came with 3 was it ? yeah.. quite disapointed.
