Yeah go play something fun ;)
On a related note just keep practising, make sure you go for the headshots and eventually you'll start to kill people
Took me weeks before I could even kill people reliably and I'm still pretty bad now :)
just remember your gun is more accurate when you're ducking so if you're shooting from range duck and fire
Once you get up close just aim to the head and strafe loads :)
etc
I'm sure someone better than me will post some actually helpful advice

Don't play it like Quake - If in doubt hide :)
I think there is a guide for newbies on http://www.firingsquad.com

if you're playing over a 56k modem then give up now, CS is the most extreme example of "it's not your skills, it's your net connection" and you'll find (as i did) that you're not that bad when you play it over a LAN or someone else's cable modem (or your employer's 2Mb link) :smokin:

grrr Im really satrting to get cheezed off with NTL: (NT Hell, where have i heard that before?) Cos im ex-CWC and i've not been upgrade (despite what the webby says  ) i cannot get a cable modem :(

NTL have been known to cap your speed so its effectively 128k ISDN always on

NTL (Hell),
Im the same as Cabe, ex-cw not allowed to upgrade :(
There website promised Spring 2001, then soon, and now it appears to be happening never.
If you type ur postcode into the postcode checker, after telling you that you cannot have Cable Modem it rather helpfully asks...
"Why not try another Postcode?"

on the other hand the capping on the ntl cable is a little flexible, it is supposed to be capped to 512Kbps down but on long downloads (linux distros) we have been known to average 150K/sec, which is about 1.2 Mbit, and I have never had the download speed below 70K/sec from fast sites.

But some heavy users are capped to 128k aparrently

Well the problem is there isn't really much to cs when it comes down to it
Run into the room and shoot people in the head
The correct range from which you shoot them in the head varies on the weapon you use
Uh
That's kinda it :)

I have a dumb a$$ 56k connection which really annoys me. I get ratios of like 15-10 etc. When I play on a LAN i get 35-6 ratios. WTF........
Like FearHawk said, however good you are your connection is the thing which matters. Oh yeah use an MP5 to practice your skillz at shooting and get a BOT to shoot at. (Bots helped meh loads)

Not all bad for 25 quid a month. Plus I've heard they will up the spped to 4mb/s when the ditch all the old analoge t.v decoders. :D Sweeeeeet

put it this way, cs is very hard on a 56k, not impossible, but quite hard. for some reason, my ping has gone mad, 400+ most of the time. CS takes a lot of practise, and knowning the maps off by heart makes the game a lot easier, cause u are not worrying about where then enemy could be, there are only a few places they can come from. :D
Practice makes perfect, but u need something better than a 56k
bleh, i aint getting cable in my area for another 2 ****ing years. AHHHHHHHHHHHH

Knowing the maps and good sound are the keys to playing CS...
You need to know the best routes to take, to get places quickly deppending on where you start... all a matter of trial and error really :)
Sound is the key... i got myself some nice sirocco speakers so in games like CS and Q3 ya can prity much hear where NME's are coming from, allowing you to shoot first, or run like a chicken :D
Or simply download some fullbrights/wallhacks/crosshairs for CS... its not like you can spoil the game anymore than its creators have done in the last few patches :p: (yes yes i'm a quaker...)

That last bit was a joke before i get slapped about by everyone
Punkbuster servers are supposed to be cheat free (cos of something you have to d/l to play on them) So they are prolly the best place to go to pracy...
Quake3 RA3 rules and ya all know it :D
