Nintendo Wii, lets talk money.

Is it just me, or has any one else noticed that the Wii will be about £45 GPB less in the US than it will be here in the UK?

£45, thats the price of a game or another controller (give or take).

Anyone got any ideas or comments as to why this is?

We always pay a bit more than America for our consoles. It's worth noting that the retail figure Nintendo quoted for the UK includes VAT, whereas the American price quoted doesn't include their sales tax (because that's different depending on the state you live in). The difference will be more like £20 on average.

things like taxes are probably different, and even things like wanting to make money on a product they sell could be to blame.

Blame the EU.

They levy an import duty on electronic goods, then add the 17.5% VAT.
That translates into almost 20% increase in the price for consumers.

Apprently in Mexico they will have to pay twice as much as America.

But fact is for its time Wii is probably one of the cheapests home consoles ever at launch.

TBH considering some price differences this isnt a bad one. When something is around £200-£300 more here than in the US, i get annoyed. Yeah Tax sucks and the EU are the worst. Hell they even added VAT to onling MMO subscription Fees.
