I would be interested to see if anyone bought shares in YouTube though, could be an interesting proposition. Wonder how they will generate revenue, probably the usual, from free to pay, from great to pants.

Youtube was private, so no shares. The venture capital company probably has a stake in it, but that's about it.

As for how it'll generate revenue, the same way as it does now. Advert space on youtube is pretty damn expensive. (rumour has it that you're talking $175,000 for the front page video for 400,000 impressions per day) Then you have the sponsered channels, and also the sponsored "director" videos that appear on each page.

It wasnt a money deal, they sold the company for stock only.
