Wanted - Video Capture card

Does anyone have a cheap (:)) working video card thing with both inputs and outputs (you can get those right ? :D) going at i8 or something?

Doubt anyone will have one lying around. What do you need to do with one?

I need to turn a VHS tape into a PC format. I was lead to beleive that a Digital Videocamera would do the job but the one that I have (even though it does say in the manual that you can do it) doesn't work. For some reasn it just wont record from the tape.

It would then be uploaded through a Capture card that came with the camera. A program then turns it into MPEG, AVI or Real Player formats. Not bad really considering it was all free. Still need a decent editor though. :)

Any ideas?

So you've got the gear or haven't?

If you install the divx codec (3.222b recommended) then you can encode straight to divx from all hauppage WinTv cards (I have the Go, Its fine, didn't cost too much either)

How much did it set you back cos the ones that ive seen have been £100+ and I dont have that kinda money at the moment.

Also, another use I would have is for sending them out to a projector for a big screen. Kinda the same thing that was at i7 and probably the past i event.

My WinTV Go! Set be back 40 quid, from PC world of all places, i couldn't find anywhere that could match it at the time. Scan have them now for about 35 on today only, but by the time postage is paid...

Note it can only recieve TV and you'd need a TV out on your graphics card if you want to send it back to anywhere. Its also analog, not digital, so you might loose a bit of quality. End of the day the card works well.

Can u get ones that are capable of sending images out? Because my trust GeForce doesn't have one.
