I rent a server from Multiplay and I am the senior admin. I cannot speak for other admins but I can assure you that as far as I am concerned the RoE govern the way players are treated on the server. What the RoE do not do is force me to have players on my server that I do not want. I look through these forums from time to time and if I see someone who is offensive in their postings I conclude that they may well be offensive ingame. They are therefore marked for banning if they ever appear. I can think of two names immediately that appeared in a now closed thread.
In the majority of cases people play fair and are respecful to one another. Being disrespectful by name, deed or word will earn you a ban quicker than excrement travels through a goose. I don't do temporary bans either. I and the players on my server are there to enjoy themselves, not to suffer grief and I intend that they will be protected from idiots.

I will play ball with you if you play ball with me, just remember it's my chuffing ball :-)

Absolutely 100% agree with you. I've just started renting a server with a mate for a month to see what the cr@ck is and after 6 days i'm already sick to the back teeth with idiots. After kicking a guy only for him to appear again 5 minutes later enough was enough - if people still fook about after being warned then it's a perm ban.

Our trouble is it's a 16 player server, and if only 6 people are playing then it ends the round for everyone. Then again it's no fun when a team of 3 can't even get off the carrier because of baserapers.

I've had a belly full of it tonight, much more and I can see it only being a month rental and the dvd's going on ebay.

If you stick with it you will soon find that you get a regular cadre of players who like the way you run your server and the not very nice and childish people will not be able to get on. We originally started with 24 slots and a rule of no jet bombing at all. There were a few wingers for a time but then the server filled with people who liked it that way and the wingers got fewer and fewer. I see nothing wrong with having a server which is different within the rules, if you want Wake with jet bombing there are loads of servers who allow it so go there was the position I took. With 40 players we allow it except on uncaps. If EA had got the balance between aircraft and anti aircraft right we would not need these additional rules. One benefit of the no bombing rule is that helicopters become a much more attractive target for a jet and so did not rule the roost as they tend to do now. While jet pilots can stat pad with bombing easy targets like spawns they are not shooting down helis/other jets which should be their primary role. We also found that the queue for jets was shorter with less TK as well. If we revert to 24 the old rule will appy again.

If you don't know what I mean about stat padding just watch Wake when the USMC have taken only north base and watch the chinese jets fly down the runway, drop bombs off the end go round and fly down the runway drop bombs of the end ad nauseum. If that is intelligent and tactical gameplay King Herod was a leading exponent of child care.

It seems like the only sensible players for BF2 are the admins. GGWP to you ;)
