I currently have a Gecube X800xl 256mb PCI-E. problem is the cooling fan ball bearings have been borked from the start, and is really starting to make a horrible noise. this is a long shot, but does anyone have a spare x800xl cooler (preferly gecube). if not what can i do to make it sound better or solve the problem (gecube aren't replying to emails)
cheers
buy a new cooler. can get replacements off most component sites

I used one of those, pretty much perfect top cooling quality.

The problem is that he has a shuttle and I believe that they have a tendency to stick the graphics slot up along the back left edge of the case, allowing for only single slot cooling. Zalman and AC's will not work unless you mod the case or it is one of the rare exception shuttles I believe. May have changed for the newer ones, I don't keep particularly up to date with mini pooters ;).

Yeah the artic cooling fan is massive. It IS possible to watercool a shuttle (done in CPC) but the best thing is really looking for thinner HSFs. We just found this with a family Dell PC. Due to Dell's stupid design you cant fit a decent cooler onto the x600 (which is passivly cooled and seems to be overheating).

Mr Footlong hit the nail on the head, i need to measure the space but i doubt that they will fit, if anyone knows if anyone has done it i would be interested to know if any mods were needed

This method involves cutting the case, if done properly it doesn't look that bad imo. Could try it ay?

I've seen Neo's case at Shinylan, it looks very nice and well done IRL. Speaking to him about it, it was a bit of an effort apparently, but like any case modding, if you have the right tools you can teach yourself to fit it pretty easily.
