I got a psp about 3 months ago and i thought i would use whilst at work as i do a lot of travelling, But ive yet to find any decent titles come out. I got worms openwarefare about 2 weeks ago and thats the best find yet. Gta got tedious after a short while much did NFS rivals and a couple others. Nothings caught my eye and it seems like its been a waste of 200 quid. Anyone else think the same?

Surely the question is "What games for this platform should I try" as opposed to "Do you agree with me?"

Yeah that was a bit mis-worded. Im just trying to see if anyone has any doubts about the psp being worth the buy. Its a great peice of kit but doesnt seem much to back it up. Got any recomendations on games? Also does anyone know when Final fantasy is due to be released?

Impulse buys can go wrong. Sony aren't exactly doing too much to make future PS3 owners feel good about their next console. Loads of people will buy one ... wonder where the games are ... become pissed off.

PSP seems nice though - at least it is a multipurpose device rather than just a gaming gadget. UMD / memory stick videos and films are always nice, and it does have a rather lovely screen.

Yeah the screens sexy and i love watching films on it even more so now that theyre getting cheaper to. Theres not many games that have appealed to me. Before you know it a psp2 will be out

I got rid of my PSP because I just couldn't see anything that took my interest. On the gaming side, the PSP is trying to be something it's not; a gaming platform akin to the PS2 except with cut down graphics. At least the DS has a clear market it's aiming for and actually offers somthing different on the games front.

I did like watching TV shows on the PSP but that's not enough for me to warrant keeping it.

I've not found a killer title for it yet, but have played it a fair bit.

And I can't see a killer title particularly forthcoming any time soon...

I did exactly the same thing. Sold PSP, sold my original DS and have preordered the Lite with Animal Crossing WW and New Super Mario Bros.

Bright screen + my garden + sun, with a little bit of ultimate frisbee thrown in. Should be a good summer!

tbh i didnt find that the PSP screen was that bad. its only when i added an anti scratch film cover it started reflected light badly. if u think back to the gameboys they didnt have backlit screens and u had to get a screen light to play in the dark. altogether im happy with my psp, ok some might not like it, its proved to be usefull for those times where mobile gaming are ideal. i will also say that im sure anyother handweld would have been the same. i think ds and other ones like gameboy have never really appealed to me, ive always viewed the games were aimed at a younger audience? oh well each to their own eh? if u aint tried it u cant knock it? ;)

I wanna try locoroco on mine, but there is no way I'm upgrading the firmware from 1.5!!

Time to shove my oar in here. I really do see peoples point when they say how disappointed they are with their PSP's. Sony have in my opinion not really supported the PSP like they could have (and really should have) done.

Yet I still have one and love the little thing to bits. Once you change the headphones and sort out the absolutely abysmal volume of it, I find I have a useable MP3 player (for when the wife has nicked the main one), something to watch films on, and gaming on the move. While the PSP doesn't, and I don't think ever will, have the scope and originality of DS titles, there are some decent games which are for me, easily good enough to while away my daily commute. These include:
Lumines - Puzzle style game.
Locoroco - About the most original title I have played on the system, very cute and fun little puzzler this one.
Everybody's Golf - Cute and very nicely done golf game.
X-Men Legends 2 - Overhead RPG fight'em'up. Not as good as the PS2 version of course, but on the PSP it doesn't tie up the TV, and I can play it on the train.

If Sony would only open the firmware up so all versions could run home brew software, I think it would really make a difference to peoples opinion of the PSP. Either way, I have also been planning a DS purchase for a while as well, so I may end up with both at some point.

its fair to say that "sony killed the potential of the psp" with annoying firmware. i think ive used mine 2 times in the last 3 months. it gathers dust at the moment..

every so often a great game comes out. i have my faves but i still wait for the day that granTourismo rears its head on the PSP. the game i bought the handheld for :(

ah, a fellow nintendo fanboy! unfortunatley i gace in to the PSP, and regretted it the week after. I sold it, and bought a DS Lite, a console that actually has some games worth playing...

heh, i just traded my psp in for a DS lite. Locoroco was the best game for PSP tho, the rest where just PS2 ports really. The good thing about the DSis the games have clearly been designed to make use of it
