I have a horrible habit of spending as much time as possible trying any MMO I can get my hands on, usually it bites me in the ass with such awful tripe as ATractor and Runescape.

However something I feel may please some people is a game I found called Audition - Online Dance Battle

As you can guess already players go head to head a'lá DDR through various stages and tracks, No licensed music as such but what is there is quite good.

The basic objective is standard with Korean made MMOs based around PVP dance your way to the top, earn money and pimp yourself up in a range of extremly ambigous clothing. Dont see why you couldnt hook up a dance mat to play if thats your thing.

Not the biggest fan of DDR but interested to see how it works out

Download the client from there you have to sign in and launch the game via the webpage with the installation of an activeX controller.

I think this would be cooler if it were in a fantasy style and when learning new talents/spells etc you literally learn new dance moves

so out in the world, if you attack something you have to perform the dance sequence to pull the move off

Then you'd have the BattleGrounds style where you go head to head in PvP normal DDR style or by fighting with spells etc and performing moves.

That's how I would have done it

Surely not an accident.

Having played it over the weekend.

It is....well tough

It is pretty much DDR minus the continual foot hopping button pushing throughout the entire track.

Basically as the song progresses your level increases, Increased level requires you to press a combination of keys EXACTLY as displayed followed by the tapping of space bar as it falls into the rythm zone (like a power guage on most golf games). Fudge it up and you miss the move.

It is fun and they are trying to promote this to the western market so maybe once things find their way out of beta v0.01 I belive, the track listings may get some attention. What is on offer is multi genre however EXTREMLY Asian.

It is fun though with upto 5 players and one player (the host) playing DJ setting up the tracks and BPM. If your into the social aspect of MMOs and like DDR I would consider this to be pretty much perfect.

As I mentioned in the previous post though this game is more then anything about being the best with daily ranking boards and audition TV letting you see the top contenders dance off. Would imagine prizes galore come retail.

As for a rhythm fantasy based MMO the closest thing I can think of is cabal

Its due for beta in the near future and has a style compared to Devil May Cry, the combat system is rhytmic and the better you are at putting your key presses together the more you can chain and combo your attacks and spells.

Be nice to see how that one turns out.

Any chance of this getting put on the ftp? I want to try it but the site download speeds are awful, and the torrent version has hardly any seeds :(

yeah it took me a while to figure that one out. it's pretty fun, racked a few hours on it. But there are quite a few hackers around..

hehe yeh but if you have to hack a game thats solely for the majortiy of players for the purpose of fun.. okay all games are meant to be fun, people like to take games seriously though too but with this I feel you cant do nothing but enjoy yourself by playing so hackings a loss with no gain :)
