Now I am not a fan of Vauxhalls at all myself, but darling fell in love with this one. After she promised me that she would get a couple of things sorted, I parted with £1300 for it! on the conditions agreed with her. Now being woman, she never did a thing and then just moaned me to death about it..... I took the easier option and just bought a much newer car lol that I a: liked and b: would happily work on :D.

Now, I am going to be completely, totally and utterly honest about this car, as that's how I am with things. I don't want any ill will etc and I don't hide things.

Being a Vauxhall, it has some things that need sorting. I will tell you the good points and the things that need sorting:

Good -

Engine and gearbox are completely solid. Engine fires up perfectly every single time, cold or hot and is very smooth. Gearbox is working perfectly still, sport button etc etc. Lovely for cruising, very sedate and relaxing, but also has some balls when you floor it, however that almost never happened as darling drives like a demented slug to put it mildly, transit vans/oap's undertaking her is not an uncommon thing, only I 'tickle' it and I refuse to drive a Vauxhall by choice lol, that and the fact that I am too tall really to drive comfortably, head is in sunroof. I have done perhaps 20 miles of hard 'test' driving in it. That is ALL that I have driven it, been a frustrated passenger otherwise lol. Other than that she has been truly cruised only :).

Trip computer, cruise control, electric windows, electric mirrors, heated seats etc, basically everything except for what I will mention in a bit works perfectly.

Full pimp leather interior in truly amazing condition. Looks as good as new IMO and I am a very fussy person.

The Saloon in white actually looks very good IMO and I don't really like Vectras.

Never overheated, never broken down etc etc, just works.

Bad - It's a Vauxhall so you knew there would be a bad bit :P

RUST PATCHES - This was what I was promised by darling would get fixed but suffice to say it was far too difficult to book it in around the corner "I haven't got any money" etc etc. I stood my ground as I have bought 5 of her last 6 cars for her, not much to ask really now is it..................... The key rust is in the 2 rear arches and patch in rear passenger door lock area. Hasn't got much worse since we bought the car really, but it needs sorting as it looks god awful on what is a nice clean car otherwise :( You can see the rust areas on the car in the pictures at the end. I recommend that you look at the pics closely, as I have hidden NONE of the rust, what you see in the pics is exactly all the rust that is there :).

AIRCON NEEDS RECHARGING - pretty well stated right there ;). I have seen kits that can do this for peanuts in motor factors etc but never bothered as again, a principal thing that I wasn't supposed to have to pay for any upkeep on that car...

A couple of dash bulbs need to be replaced in the centre console

Right driver side ABS wheel sensor needs replacing - The monkeys at National managed to knock it or damage it when replacing the pads on the car but would take no responsibility for it. I guage this as an IMPORTANT one to fix as it is sometimes sends false reading to the ABS computer, thinking that the car is locking it's brakes so reducing the braking power. Not life-threatening, but it is a bloody odd feeling to have the brakes 'loosen'. From forum trolling and the fact it started the day National did there job, it all points to that sensor, they even said something about having a lot of hassle changing the pads on that side or something. It could be the other side I suposses, but pretty sure it is driver side from they way it feels.

Car likes to say CHECK COOLANT LEVEL, despite the level being perfect and the sensor in the tank being fully submerged. Could it be trapped air? I don't know, but the coolant is fine, the car sits perfectly happily in traffic etc, cooling fans cut in and out when hot as you would expect, so a 'ghost' in the system I am pretty sure.

Headlight bulb cracked with a very small bullet hole there. I have sealed the crack completely and patched over the hole with a sub 1cm circular white patch. Not really noticeable and passed MOT perfectly.

Rear box REALLY NEEDS to be replaced! Got through the MOT with an advisory or whatever it is and I could hear it was 'struggling' ;). It has pretty well gone since then and has to be replaced.

Rear passenger door auto lock plays up. Very common as I have seen at least 2 of the company vectras do exactly the same thing.

Right, I am pretty sure I have covered everything. There is quite a bit of service history for a car of this age and price IMO, all we did was an oil change at 99000 miles, nothing else as it has just worked perfectly and only done a 22 mile round trip mon-fri with normal weekend use on top of that :). Also, She wanted a Vauxhall, it was her job to sort it due to me being stubborn. Seeing a pattern here? ;) I have to say that I actually really like the way it drives, but I just DO NOT like Vauxhalls, mostly due to reliability of our company standrad ones, but this one has been better than I expected compared to the company crap we have to drive..... Also the bigger ones all seem to have fared better. It is very likely that the engine is going to be good for 150-200K miles or more

Now, I am after £550 OVNO, not asking for the book price, just what I would personally pay for it. Just the interior this car has in worse condition has been selling on Ebay for £3-400 alone! You can get this car 'sorted' fairly cheaply or for peanuts if you know someone ;). There you have it warts n all :). I am in farnham, Surrey and the car can be driven away as soon as it is sold.

Cheers,

Nick :)
