I'm having a new BT line installed on friday, which I have a provisional number for - but it could change at the last minute (I've checked and its currently not active through the adsl availability checker)
I'd like to get Internet (IPMax) up and running on this line ASAP - my 2 questions are:
1) Is there anything I can do now to accelerate the process
2) If I was to sign-up on friday, how soon would I realistically be looking until I could use the service?
Cheers

Not until the line installation is complete. For future reference, we are able to do a process called a simultaneous PSTN + ADSL Provide, which means that you order ADSL, then order your phone line and the ADSL is provisioned on the line at the same time as it's installed (we give you a code to give BT when you order the line). However as you've already ordered the line you will have to wait for the install on that to complete before we can order ADSL for you.

Activation takes about a week. You get a provisional activation date when you order ADSL. :)

Hopefully you will be able to see the line same day on the availability checker but don't rely on that happening. With the many lines that I have got clients to install and then got ADSL activated on them, it has mostly been been between 24-48 hours back in the original 512-2MB ADSL days, with a few showing up same day. You may be lucky, things may have improved to near realtime and there used to be some tricks I used with BT to get things prioritized on lines that didn't show up yet, but they cottoned on to that sadly.
