Looking at moving off zen to MPUK becasue i can get 8mb for same price with no download cap.

Curretly using my trusty Netgead DG814 adsl router with latest firmware.

Would they be an advantage to moveing to another make / model of router? I knowq in work we supply a number of the wirelss draytek range to our customers but a bit priciy

So any suggestions?

Cheers

Can't see any point changing your router, it's still a BT line at the end of the day.

Different routers support different speeds,

It is often worth looking at the specs for each individual router.

that sir is not very helpful :)

What speed roughly?

Adsl = ?

Adsl 2 is ~ 12

Adsl 2+ is ~24 if I'm right?

adsl looks like 8 megs... so according to details router supports that.

Cheers for all the help :)

I am sorry, i didnt mean to be unhelpful.

To clarify ->

Adsl -> up to 2mb

ADSL IP MAX -> Up to 8mb

ADSL 2 (generaly requires a new router) -> 24mb.

Most routers (if bought in recent years -2-4??-) should be more than capable of running ADSL to the max, and alot of them will be able to run IP MAX (with appropiate upgrades to firmware (if applicable to your router))

no worries, just wanted to confirm I was getting the most out of my router :)

Looks like I don't have to worry about upgrading till ADSL2+

Cheers!

you'll find that most modern adsl routers and most well-made adsl routers will support adsl2+ services with a firmware upgrade (i know that the netgear dg834 series support adsl2+ from v2 of the firmware onwards)

ADSL and ADSL IP MAX are actually both just ADSL. Even the old Alcatel Stingray / Squashed Frog (the one from the old 512k engineer installs) supports full ADSL - that is up to 8Mb, on its original firmware.
