OK so public games sometimes get a bit boring, even the close ones... So tonight I decided to misbuild/trial something weird on Darkterror... got him in DM AR around level 12 so it's quite easy to keep him alive if you watch your cooldowns and play conservatively... Anyway to cut a long story short I built him as an INT hero, slapped Refresher Orb on him and then had a right laugh.

After all, what hero (or heros) can win through a 12 sec untargetted area stun (and a sheep stick to boot) from a hero who can warp in from 1300 units away, slowing you - and his warp has cooled down by the time his area stun wears off, so even if you survive 15 free hits (and the stun) you ain't walking away very fast.

Suffice to say it was very amusing (and must have been very frustrating for the opposition... what do you say, Baz? :) ) and I'll be trying some more heros with weird items for the hell of it.... Just wondered if anyone else has some interesting combos...

Ones I'm aware of that aren't immediately obvious, or have some hidden fun times:

Black King Bar on The Treant
Blink Dagger on Sand King
Radiance on Stealth Assassin
4x Blademail on Centaur Warchief
Dagon on Pugna or Nerubian Assassin or Bounty Hunter or Clinkz
Lothars Edge on Luna, Fuzzy or Omniknight

Get posting if I've missed any :)

for ****s and giggles i've done:
dagon, lothars on witch doctor... this should now be the default build as it rapes hard
refresher orb on abaddon for almost invun (and a heart to take the piss)
hyperstone, mask of madness on jakiro for wtf fireball spaff
blink dagger on techies with suicide
syllabear with a dagon, and bear with mana booster + dagon (also with sheep sticks)

also i've heard using a refresher on the obsidion destroyer is amusing for astraling twice to drain int and THEN using your ulti

First one I've seen before, it's very nasty.
Blink in, do ulti then immediate stun to make sure no one gets out of the epicenter.
Works well on a lot of heavy str heros - centaur, panda, sandking. I imagine it might work well on ursa as well.

Second one is interesting, but would have to be an non DM game where you know what the other team is going to be all the time - and it would have to be a melee heavy one.
Would have to do some theorycraft as well to see if blademail/return stacks and by how much.

I've been playing sylabear a lot recently and I have to say that Lothar's Edge on the hero makes for very good times. You can get the bear up to 2700 HP early in the game and having an invisible hero to follow him around is t3h h4x.

The Bear's entangle gets far more kills than it has any right to.

My standard build with him is:

On Sylabear - Basilus Ring, Bracer, Treads, Mekansm, Lothar's
On Bear - Treads, Hyperstone, Basher, Hyperstone, Basher, Hyperstone

Getting the bear's attack speed up is your priority. At that point you can start hunting hero's down. The entangle has a 30% chance, and once the bear is hitting twice or three times a second that equals a whole lot. Bashers are icing on the cake. :) Maybe add Refresher orb on the hero if you really want to go silly.

Sylabear used to be a "oh crap" hero to get, the one you suicide early in DM or just repicked.
Now I actually like him, but nothing to do with the bear, I never get it*

I personally like to use him as a very fast attacking ranged hero, with his self berserk.
Burize, hyperstone and skadi if you can have time.

*I can't micromanage at all, I have 2 left hands when it comes to controlling 2 or more units.

I like syllabear better as the melee bearform later on.. free extra hp and you get battlecry which is like +more dmg thx :D

Second one is interesting, but would have to be an non DM game Yeah, 4x Blademail, Treads and Either Heart or Satanic on him is only strong when your opponents are melee or heavily melee in a normal game, but it's surprisingly good in DM because the late game dominant heros are nearly ALL melee. You can reduce it to 3x or even 2x to fit things like S&Y or Black King Bar on him, but at 4x the maths returns almost 100% damage to melee attackers so there is NO WAY to lose a 1on1 fight with him against melee, and 2on1 and even 3on1 is still in your favour if you have Satanic and they don't have too many disables.

Had a rather amusing game last night which involved Ogre Magi, Skadi, Radiance, BoT and a hyperstone :>

MINE :D

Personally i like building QOP with heavy DPS - Hyperstone Buriza MKB
Build her primarily as an agil hero but then she has the ability to slow/poision - blink in and out and then finish them off
If then you have cash - get an scepter and a skadi and you win the game :)

Blink dagger on Sand King can be amazing.

Channel epicenter away from the action
Blink when channeling has finished
Have ten seconds of practically uninterruptable epicenter
Finish people off with burrowstrike

Takes a little bit of practise not to miss any of the pulses from epicenter if you do it manually, but if you use shift spell queuing you can apparently do it easily everytime.

At mid game this can be totally devastating and there isn't much enemy heros can do about it. Its great for stopping hero rushes. The key is to do it from somewhere out of line of sight so it takes them by surprise too.

Makes getting double kills pretty easy. :)

Also if you do a burrowstrike whilst the epicenter is happening, the enemy wont take any damage from it for the time that they are in the air, so it best to wait until its finished before you hit em with it.

Clearly the best razor build is Malestrom :) We all know that

personally i like a SNY for the extra speed / maim on razor as he becomes a silly chasing hero with it. Anyway, my favourite "weird" build has to be mass damage on lina. you go for /no/ extra int/mana items except a sobi mask so you can keep ultimate up, then build her with one point in stun and just get ultimate and laguna blade when you can (otherwise stats ftw), then use laguna for maximum killstealing early game to keep the cash coming in. Once you get a burize and treads you're laughing :p

Crystal maiden with bot, skadi, butterfly, monkey bar and lothar's edge is seriously scary :p: no one can get away ;)

A lot of that is just

"Take X hero and put expensive stuff on it and watch it kill things because it hits hard."

Original builds are bloody hard to think up now, Dota's been about for ages.
The 4 blademail warchief is the only interesting one in there I haven't seen before.

Picking combinations of heroes is where the fun is.

Back in the old days when you could finish a game in 5-8 minutes with team "anti building" or team aura stack.
You can still do it now with team multicreep as long as you get the KoTL

If you want a laugh (and a challenge cos these teams take skill to use well)

Go team DoT (Axe, venom, Ogre M, silencer, bloodseeker/viper)
Team Heal, (OmniK, Chen, Juggy, Necrolyte and Dryad)
Team multicreep (Furion, Broodmother, Keeper (mana) Enigma, Necrolyte (healing) Beastmaster/syllabear)

There's loads more, you can think them up yourself, the above 'work', Heal and multicreep are clearly the most fun as you can just hit level 4-5 and push one lane all the way home.

Team Nuke is the other obvious one.

but furion doesnt make creeps, he is an agility hero
Hyperstone dbl buriza k thnx \o/

For the record my full complete furion build
BOT
Buriza
Buriza
Hyperstone
Sange and Yasha
Linkens (subject to change based on flow of game, maybe BKB)

Oh and as an additional these days in pretty much ANY death match game i build hyperstone dbl buriza.
It is VERY shocking how well it works on ALL hero's heck even hyperstone dbl crystalis (not THAT expensive to do) still shockingly good.
