View Full Version : MPUK Allegiance - a concerted effort?
Well, now that the Allegiance Zone is to become free, and all races are available, is it worth looking at forming an MPUK squad to take on the other squads in some organised games?
We have two competent commanders (Afty, Fearhawk) and a further 'fill-in' commander who reeks of rank incompetence, but nevertheless knows how to use a mouse. :) We also have quite a number of pilots and more joining each day, and a good recruiting area in terms of the webby and LANs.
I don't play anything else at the moment due to hardware and time issues, so I'd be quite interested to see if we could get this off the ground.
Anyone?

let us make ourselves a force to be reckoned with

I'll defo play lads
Especially seeing as allegience is the only game I have any competence at ;)
There's another point for a poll and a debate.
Only kidding honey. :p

Seriously, I do actually think that the MPUK Allegiance Squadron could become a major player (provided wizzo sticks to piloting). There's enough l33t pilots (especially A_BeAsT with his universal aimbot and BugAlugs - God of Turrets)
Commence the recruitment.

die :)
I'll be up for it... you guys could probably use a few pilots who actually KNOW how to use stealth tech and don't mind nannying :)
I actually voted for the topmost option, not the one concerning your leadership abilities.
Incidentally, if you open up the DB client and paste in:
SELECT username, voteoption FROM user, pollvote WHERE user.userid = pollvote.userid and pollvote.pollid = 15;
You should have some idea of who you'll want naniting the bomber you're turreting for next time we play with friendly fire on.

I'm treating this as a secret ballot and as such will not divulge where I cast my vote...
OK 2 points Fearhawk:
1] It's not hard to guess where your vote went.
2] I know where your vote went.
3] It went where I (and everyone who knows you) would have guessed.
OK, 3 points. :p

dammit i'm getting almost as predictible as Wizzo and his love affair with IC supremacy (which we 0wned on several occasions)

Count me in, my turret gunner skillz are 200% better now I've worked out that you get a zoom when sat in a bomber's turret. ;)

indeed there were some uber-l33t turreters at sl5... now we just have to teach everyone how to nanite...
If you can get 2 good gunners as LPBs on bomber turrets online, especially with a range of the best part of 2k you can rip apart about 3 fighters depending on tech levels between you before they get to you. If you use Zoom :)
Now if the enemy have sent say, 6 figs after you, and you have a couple of nanites then it's no problem as the mines and gunners mop up the remaining three.
It's rare you see more than 5/6 figs in a wave going after a bomber online, although I guess organised games will be a bit diff. But then we have a 3/4 man INT wave sweeping 5k ahead of the bomber to ensure anything getting through is already damaged - or in some cases never actually gets through.

We have a few good nannyers, each team had 1 or 2 at sl5, with them all teamed up on one team we should have enough

I think that 6 is a little low for an estimate of the standard sized scrambling of ships which occurs at the cry of "station at risk" - on the AZ games especially it's the entire team (barring the couple of pilots who are already on a counter-offensive in Stealth Bombers or HTT's)
The ideal config is 1 bomber pilot with 2 turret gunners, 4 nanites and everyone else acting as fighter cover to defend the nans... a wing of adv figs or adv stealth figs can hold off defensive launches who will always target the nanites first - plus, if the nanites also nan each other when the bomber doesn't need repairs, their lifespan is greatly increased

rar - is it possible that we'll have a major challenge at SL6? or should we just put all the l33t players on my side and totally 0wn craig to a whole new level (as if our Rixian sup/sy cheese wasn't enough :D)

I think after StratLAN it is time for me to hand in my command suit and brush the dust of my flight wings... piloting for me... I want some action :)

So FHawk vs Afty in the future then :)
Joey[kins]
4th June 2001, 22:41
no - anyone can now sign up to Afty and Hawk's "school of command" where the only way to learn is the hard way
and Wizzykins hun - we know the truth - you don't want action as much as you want less abuse for having no skills - you can't even beat us when you cheat by getting DS to read our chat list, or when you try bios cheese on us!

Erm, I'd like to join in.
Not too sure whats my speciality, nanniting the other team is what im good for (LOL I Know - 0WNED!) but anyway, at i7 I was ok, despite the worst leadership :p:
SO erm, this may be a reason to buy the game.
/me steals mums credit card.
If I make it to i8 (and I hopefully will) then I shall be attending as paying punter.
Thanks to not having the commitment of wearing a frightully yellow shirt, and not having to pander to lots of screaming kids and people with broken PCs, I shall instead spend my time occasionally organising bigass (read ideally 64 player) Allegiance games and ensuring there are competent commanders on both sides.
Perhaps even an Allegiance mini tourney.
We shall see - I will also offer simple commander classes to those who want them, and I shall try to recruit pilots for the MPUK wing.
Anyone seen any URLs for Allegiance 2?

could this be a reprisal of the Hawk vs Afty game of i7? will i actually have to attack my partner in 0wning Wizzo? do the punters stand any chance against the sheer might of the MPUK staff? will i ever spell everything in one of my posts right first time? can I ask any more questions in just one post? tune in to Allegiance at i8 to find out!

I thought there was already an MPUK squad on the AZ.
Anyway - I would like to volunteer for duty.

Right i've voted option 2 at the top, howeevvvverrrr...
Afty knows the reason why i cant play atm, and if he could send me the required "info" via email i would be v.grateful, then i'll join in as well...
turrets have Zoom?!!?!?!!!?!! ;)
dtk@multiplay.co.uk <- in my sig as well but there we go
Joey[kins]
7th June 2001, 09:32
turrets do have zoom - it's the opposite of the throttle control on your l33t ff2 joystick (ie, increase speed zooms out) - don't know the pe0n keyboard controls
Big Giant Head
7th June 2001, 10:53
Its the throttle controls on the keyboard
Backspace takes you to zero zoom, backslash to full zoom and the 2 square bracket keys to the two in between levels
That might be back to front but its close enough
Joey[kins]
7th June 2001, 11:20
just get a proper joystick - like mine (ff2 for under £60)
Big Giant Head
7th June 2001, 16:30
Might do if, M$ will buy me a left hand that mysteriously fits on a right handed joystick
Blew up cyborg at i7 though so I do need a new one
Oooooow just got allegiance :D
