Top one would be better if you didnt use a grunge brush with a vector brush keep to the same style throughout.
the second one the colour balence is a bit iffy and the text is difficult to read.

all in all i give you 6/10
oh and sigs should be 140 x 45 there the nice long smooth ones that dont cause people to scroll for a year to the next post :p
try making a deviantart account and start adding things people join in soon enough.

On a more serious note, i think they're pretty good, especially considering how long you've been doing computer graphics. However the problem i find with forum signatures is the lack of originality. I mean, i think they're both pretty good, and i wouldn't know how to do it. But still, it doesn't look outstanding, or particularly unique. Keep it up though, if you spend half as much time playing with photoshop as you did on GTA3 then you'll be a pro in no time.

Its not bad for a first try (i think its a first try :p) Try using the blending modes to make things level out better.
Sigs should have brightish backgrounds so they are crisp and clean.

Nice chris simple and smooth :)
try adding a render with soft light as the blend option.
Just google search for 3d renders theres loads to choose from.
you can also try using select image then feather say 10 then invert selection, press del untill you find a mix you like.
